Over a period spanning one hundred and five years, a collective that is now known as the Old Clans, built a shining citadel that was intended to house themselves and from which they would rule over their new and growing society. As an act of dedication and to ensure that the sacrifices of previous generations to ensure the construction would never be forgotten, the Old Clans named the Citadel for the third and, at the time, most highly revered aspect of the goddess Gloriana - The Shrouded City. Even though the Shrouded City was a crowning achievement for the time, much of the surrounding area was still given over to wild and inhospitable lands. Driven by the desire to not only survive, but thrive and grow, the Old Clans oversaw the reclamation of the surrounding land and rivers outside the Citadel. What started out as a few villages situated in a harsh and unforgiving wilderness quickly grew and transformed into the city-state of Nova Gloriana. As the Old Clans and their society left much of their feudal existence behind, they quickly turned their focus to technological advancement. It is from this re-ordering of society around technology and the pursuit of knowledge over generations that the Old Clans gave way to the High Families.
