Who is involved?

There are 106,742 humans living in New Eden at the moment. Together with the colonist in all the other small settlements, the current population amounts to 116,307 people.

The capital, New Eden, is controlled by the U.T.A., whereas the smaller settlements are under control of either the U.T.A., Sakura Industries, or Verdant Biosynth.

When is all of this happening?

According to the old calendar it is the year 2178. The new calendar dates year 13 A.E. And there also is the Kaarn calendar, which currently marks the year 5147 A.C.

Why are we even here?

The industrial revolution led to a global climate change that couldn't be stopped. Mainly, because humanity didn't try enough. In 2026, earth's downfall began. Human ignorance and selfishness led to the destruction of their home planet.

When they found the wreckage of an alien spaceship, they at least had a reason for hope again. Research on that ship helped humanity develop a propulsion system that would allow them to leave Earth behind and make a fresh start. Over the next century they built giant ark ships to save at least some people.

One of those ships was the TSS Confidence. During its FTL flight they had an accident and drop out of hyperspace. The ship was heavily damaged and crashed on an unknown planet in the Delta Pavonis system. This event is today referred to as The TSS Confidence incident.

Author's Notes

This is the primer article to Nova Gaia. If you have anything that you think it is not answering, please let me know.
The idea for this primer is heavily inspired by nnie's Solaris and Rin's Wow that's a lot of stars primer articles, so thanks for the inspiration.
I will try to add the missing elements as soon as possible.
