Wallacian Campaign Session #38

• Searching the area of their recent battle, Leanna found a charred and splintered wand near where the Storm Crow tiefling had started the fight. She deduced that this was an expended limited usage magic item, possibly used to cast the blinding flash spell which initiated the conflict. Leanna put the charred want into her pack.
• As the party was searching the dead Storm Crows and securing Haze, a lone human male approached from the south. It was Baka, a cleric from the Kitara monastery where Zoi had been trained in the martial arts. Although initially apprehensive, the party convinced Baka that they had been attacked by the Storm Crows, and Baka decided to travel with the party to Westport.
• Securing Haze with ropes, the party continued overland to the northeast. As they approached the Bone Hills, Etu noticed a distinct rarity of tracks and other traces of deer and other prey animals. Numerous tracks of people and their dogs suggested that the area was heavily hunted by nearby settlements. Etu recommended skirting around the Bone Hills, rather than passing directly through them, even though that added a day or two to their journey.
• During one or more of their night camps, Zoi [or was it Leanna?] made copies of the letter found on Raven's body, including the signed initials "N.T.".
• Someone [Who?] knew that the new army commander in the south was Nikola Tolk.
• The final night before leaving the outskirts of the Bone Hills, the party was attacked by a pack of famished wolves. Although a few of the party were badly mauled by the wolves, healing by Baka, Leanna, and Rus prevented anyone from falling to the pack. One of the wolves ran off after it had been severely wounded, but the remaining six fought the death. Etu finished off the final wolf by skewering it from heady to tail with his spear. After skinning it (and the other dead wolves), he cooked his "wolf-kebob" over the fire.
• Arriving at the south gate to Westport, the party was challenged by one of the guards asking why Haze was bound by ropes. The explained that Haze and her associates had ambushed them, and the guard escorted them to the palace compound to see the local constable.
• Constable Jenkins, and elderly human woman, listened to both the party's and Haze's version of events. The party gave the constable to original letter from Raven. The constable seemed to believe the party's account, having heard rumors of the Storm Crows' activities. However, she dismissed any suggestion that Nikola Tolk might be the "N.T." who signed the letter. The Constable took Haze into custody and the party departed.
• The party then went to the Mercenary Guild, and handed their letter of recommendation to the guild-master, a grey-skinned man named Murkar. He accepted the letter and their membership dues, then welcomed the "Westland Wanderers" into the guild.
• Since the letter had detailed their accomplishment in the south of Westland, Murkar offered to introduce a potential employer to them. Murkar said that he would send the man (who had business in the south) to meet with them at the Eager Mule inn.

• Leanna visited the local priestess of Mystra in the Westport Faerunic Pantheon temple complex to examine the pendant recovered from Raven. She identified it as a holy symbol of Loviatar, the "Mistress of Pain". She added that the worship of Loviatar is tolerated as long as the participants were all consenting adults. Also, there was no priest of Loviatar in residence at the pantheon complex.
