Fanewarden

In the eyes of both the Fae Hand, and myself. You have shown a power beyond all measure to show just how confident of a person one can be, should they possess both understanding and position. You rise now as a champion of the guard, and a member most highly respected in this court.
Queen Leandra's words while bestowing the title to Lord Thallus

The Fanewarden of the Emerald Grove is a member of the highest court of the Seelie Fae. In previous centuries, there was a Captain of the Guard, who acted as a high protector of the Queen Mother. However, in recent years, she has chosen a dedicated protector and religious figure to act as a guardian in the case of an attack from the Unseelie Court.

Description

The Fanewarden is someone who is closely trusted by Queen Leandra and is also still closely linked with the religious following of the Fae Hand. Additionally, the person should be a skilled combatant, as they would not only be personally charged with protecting the highest member of the Seelie Fae, but they are also tasked with leading the Queen's Guard, a troop of powerful fae warrior, in the case that the dark and light were to clash.   When taking on the name of the Fanewarden, the current position holder is to wear plate armor designed by the finest of fae craftsperson. It moves more like the chiton of a beetle and has different iridescence that seemingly shimmers over the whole armor. Placed directly in the center of the armor is the sigil of the Fae Hand, a hand pierced by an emerald arrow. Along with the armor, the Fanewarden is given a powerful glaive known as the Queen's Arms. It would allow them to harness both divine magic as well as channeling arcane forces into their strikes.

History

Many centuries ago, the two different titles that were combined to become the Fanewarden were concieved. Captain of the Guard, a protector for the queen and the Seelie Fae, and the Emerald Vision, someone closely linked with the religious worship of the Fae Hand. For many centuries, these two roles worked separately to keep the different sides of the Seelie protected. However, there came a time, when both of the positions became emptied and Queen Leandra decided not to fill them, instead waiting for a time at which her court would be best reconfigured.   By 748 AR, Leandra found someone she trusted enough to protect her as the Captain of the Guard used to. However, she noted that this person was also a good fit for communing with the divine potential of the Emerald Vision. With ease, she created a role that would combine the two, Fanewarden of the Emerald Grove. Named for the place upon which her court remained, the Emerald Grove, and making them a warden of its protection. In 748 AR, she called many for an urgent meeting of high importance.   Without informing people of the purpose of the meeting, many in her court, and the seasonal courts, and lower courts below them, all to see what the Queen Mother wished to say. Here she called forth Lord Thallus, her advisor and consort, to bestow him the position of Fanewarden. While initially hesitant, he reluctantly took the position with grace and honor. He remains in the position, but is constantly seeking out someone who is skilled enough in both intuition and combat to take on the role in his stead.

Lord Thallus He/Him Eladrin Fanewarden of the Emerald Grove. The first to possess this title, Lord Thallus has been a keen informant, advisor, and consort for Queen Leandra for many centuries. Over this time, he has proven himself as a keen tactician and loyal servant to Queen Leandra, granting her the trust needed to bestow this title upon him. When he was given the title, he wanted to refuse, but knew that doing such a thing would hurt the Queen and be unforgivable in the eyes of fae custom, so he took on the role, with the understanding that he could not take on its position forever.
