Jack Pawly
CW: religious intolerance, murder

Jack Pawly is an investigative reporter and radio personality. He is best known for his children's program Jack's World.
Pawly was born in Rain Wood City, where his mother chose to educate him at home. A precocious child, he was curious about everything and his questions sometimes got him in trouble. he was known to hyperfocus on specific subjects, often foregoing sleep and food to study on them. As a teenager, he learned about mistreatment of minority religious groups in his city and began a political campaign to ensure that religious freedom was properly enforced. It made him enemies, but he didn't care. Neither did his parents.

In 1942, Jack had a fling with a woman that resulted in a child. Horrified that their daughter had been impregnanted by "that Pawly boy," the parents cut-off contact between her and Jack. They intended to give the baby up for adoption, until Jack's mother interceded. Jack named his daughter Beatrice, though she soon became known as "Beaky."
A new father needing to provide for his child, Jack found work as an assistant at the local radio station. He worked long hours, depending on his parents to help care for Beatrice, but eventually worked his way up to being a news anchor.
After having to report on a story about the death of a local labor leader, Pawly suspected something more to the story and began to talk to reporter who had investigated it. At his unceasing behest, the reporter dug deeper, only to discover that, as Jack had suspected, the death had actually been a hit by the factory owner to prevent workers from unionizing. Further investigations led to the discovery of horrific working conditions within the factory. After that, Jack was moved from the position of anchor to reporter.
With continued support from his parents, Pawly approached his new work with the same fervor that he studied as a child. He often researched late into the night, earning him the name "insomniac Jack" from his colleagues. Much of his work continued to focus on human rights, and it made him even more enemies. He still didn't care.
In 1952, his daughter began to get curious about her dad's work. Not ready to share with her the darker and more dangerous world he investigated, he pitched a suggestion for a children's show to the radio station--a show that would teach kids like her about science, history, and research. Hoping it would reduce the number of death threats he recieved, the station agreed to the show, which became Jack's World. This allowed Jack to bring his daughter to work with him, and Beaky was in several episodes, most notably a 1953 episode titled "Sleepover," in which she toured the radio station with him. The show ran until 1958, but has seen a resurgance in popularity in the last few years, resulting in an increasing number of invitations for Pawly to speak.

I like this background and would love to know where the story goes next!
lol I've been filling out stub articles. I'll have to give it some thought. Maybe I'll put together a short story about him.
