The Mirage

The sound of music and laughter fills your ears. Smells of the circus fill the air: popcorn and funnel cakes and cotton candy. It's gotten harder to tell what time of day it is. Somewhere, someone is playing a calliope. An explosion nearby is met with the sound of cheering, but whether it's fireworks or a triggered confetti mine is anyone's guess.

Structure

The Mirage lacks any real sense of structure with followers opting to listen to whoever is most captivating in the moment rather than adhereing to any particular set of rules and responsibilities or defined roles.

Culture

The Mirage is built on a core of fun and whimsy without a full understanding of other cultures' senses of safety and regulation. What seems like a fun game to the Mirage is often viewed as dangerous or violent to other cultures. Illusions and other magic also feature heavily in Mirage culture with many of their comforts and survival needs fulfilled by magic rather than physical labor. First and foremost, the Mirage believe that life should be fun and entertaining. They delight in the unexpected and on sharing such things with others, even if it isn't well received.

Public Agenda

The Mirage's only agenda is to enjoy life and all it has to offer. They seek to create fun, engaging, and unique experiences as they travel throughout the Outlands.

Assets

The significant amount of Illusion magic the Mirage wield is an asset all its own, allowing them to disorient anyone unprepared. This has been enough, in most cases, to keep them safe from the Outlands monsters, bandits, and other Nomadic factions. Their lack of permenant resources also tends to make them less of a target for bandits, which helps.

Demography and Population

Much of the permenant population of the Mirage is fae-touched in some way or another, whether that means they have absorbed a significant amoung of Fae magic or they're fae-born who have left whatever original home they had behind. The population also tends to skew younger, including a large amount of unaccompanied minors. Outside of these trends, the overall population is quite diverse with many species represented.
