Mielikki, Goddess of Forests
Mielikki was formerly the primary nature deity of Nexus as the goddess of forests. She is a good-natured spirit with a love of exploration, constantly on the move to explore new forests. Though she takes consideration before calling somewhere her friend, Mielikki is fiercely loyal and protective to those who have earned that honor. Her followers on Nexus are few, primarily concentrated among the local good-aligned fey and the handful of mortals (typically druids and rangers) who live among them peacefully.
Due to the machinations of the villain Levira, Mielikki's influence on Nexus was greatly reduced when she was forced to use much of her power in a limited amount of time. This left the goddess in a weakened state and forced her to withdraw to her divine realm in the Beastlands to recover. In her absence, the goddess Melora began to be worshipped as the primary nature deity on Nexus.
Sabbatical from Nexus
When the goddess Lurue, Mielikki's friend and subordinate, was captured by the devil Dunames in the nation of Jezero, the archdruid Altmera set out to save her. Calling on the full power of the Pink Quintus Gem, Altmera channeled the full force of her druidic magic and briefly became an avatar for Mielikki during the rescue. Far away in the Great Sengorian Forest south of Kingdom of Lothal, Levira took advantage of Mielikki's attention being focused elsewhere to desecrate the forest goddess' temple and slaughter the majority of her most faithful followers. Much of her power already spent on Lurue's rescue, Mielikki spent the last of the strength she could spare on preventing Levira from claiming the souls of her faithful. It was several decades before a group of adventurers called the Headhunters managed to lift the curse Levira had left upon the land, rebuilding Mielikki's temple and summoning a unicorn to purify the corrupted heart of the forest. Mielikki's influence is now gradually beginning to return to Nexus, though it will be a slow process and the nature of her relationship with Melora remains uncertain.
