Melora, Goddess of Wilderness
Melora, Goddess of Wilderness, is one of the relatively latest deities to receive worship on Nexus. Following the departure of Mielikki, Goddess of Forests, Melora stepped in to take over many of the previous nature goddess' duties. Whereas Mielikki focuses on the more serene aspects of nature, Melora is all encompassing in that she embodies all aspects of nature, from its serenity to its wrath. She can be as still and silent as a desert at night or as powerful and fierce as a stormy sea. Those who worship Melora know that she, like nature itself, is to be treated with a healthy respect for both the boons she provides as well as the disaster she can bring.
Along with caring for nature, Melora's followers are also charged with hunting down creatures that are considered unnatural. Aberrations and monstrosities, both those from other realms and created through local magics, are to be hunted and destroyed before they can upset the balance of nature.
Melora maintains a loose alliance with Kelemvor and receives praise from his followers, who respect that the bodies of the deceased return to Melora's care as their souls are guided to the afterlife by Kelemvor's hand. The two are also in total agreement that undead are a blight upon that land that should be eradicated, a sentiment they both share with The Raven Queen. Since Mielikki's return, it remains unclear what sort of relationship Melora will have with her predecessor.
