The Great Hall
The tale of when Hearth, the god of the Hearth and Home Church first arrived to remind the world of hospitality
Summary
One day, in the early years of this earth, the people were stuck in a miasma of distrust and conflict. This cruelty saddened Hearth, who began to climb out of the Earth's surface where they were born. It took them hundreds of years, but they managed it, and immediately grabbed the earth around them, using some forest to create a massive hall, around the size of the mountains. They then sent a message to the people of the world 'Come and eat in my hall. All are welcome'. This was met initially with distrust, too many invitations led to bloodshed. However, some came, mostly halflings. And as they did, so did others, finding themselves in the hall eating with people they often called enemies. This kindness did not change all of them, but it did affect them all. The mound of earth is said to be an inspiration as to the halflings burrows unusual design.
Historical Basis
There is a large mound of dirt and wood in an open field. It is theorised to be placed there by giants, but it could have been a god.
Spread
Fairly reserved, pretty much only members of the church know specifically about it.
Variations & Mutation
Some people attempt to claim that hobgoblins were forced out of the hall when they squandered Hearth's hospitality, but most versions of the myth state that all were allowed in and stayed.
Cultural Reception
Halflings adore the display of kindness, and their counterparts Hobgoblins despise it.
The majority of races have individual opinions, but most people tend to think it is a nice tale.
