Meaned
The Meaned are a group of ancient, psychotic women who are gifted with magic that lets them spread their madness to others by an ancient, now dead, god. They are among the most dangerous of all intelligent monsters in New Atlantis, and are often the instigators of invasions by hordes of lesser monsters. Many Meaned exhibit the ability to cast divine magic, though no one has been able to prove the source of this power. Many assume it to be derived from monsters worshiping their monstrous mother, Echidna.
Meaned are functionally immortal, and those that exist are all original Meaned from before the fall of Old Atlantis. They despise everything Atlantean because the transition to the new world cut them off from their god, and they seek above almost all things to undermine the stability and continuity of the Ten Kingdoms. The only thing a Meaned cares about more than the destruction of New Atlantis is their own life. There is no way to make new Meaned, and they all know it.
There are currently between four and five hundred Meaned in New Atlantis.

Basic Information
Anatomy
Meaned look like hideous women with long, thin hair the colour of aged wine and skin that is dry and pulled tight like leather. Meaned are supernaturally strong and fast, able to wrestle Centaur with their bare hands. Even Jotunn are wary of fighting a Meaned without aid.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Meaned do not require sustenance, but consider the flesh, blood, and marrow of sentient races to be delicacies that they will happily enjoy after using the bodies in arcane rituals first. Though they dislike it, consuming the flesh and blood of humans will hold back their madness for a time, something that is necessary for long-term planning.

Social Structure
All Meaned consider themselves equals to each other. The only beings that they consider worthy of at least grudging respect are Echidna, Typhon, and the various dragons of New Atlantis.
Average Intelligence
Meaned are immortal, and are extremely cunning and intelligent due to their life span. Unfortunately for them, they are all fairly insane and higher planning for them is difficult if they don't have a steady supply of bodies to stave off their madness.
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Meaned are attuned to a form of mind magic that allows them to sense the presence of sentient life in a mile radius around them. Beyond that, their senses are worse than a normal human's. Meaned are perpetually afflicted by a maddening intoxication that causes them to often hallucinate sights and sounds. Because of this, they will often ignore their own eyes and ears if they don't believe them.
