Thorin Battlehammer

Thorin Battlehammer is the youngest son of Dain Battlehammer (Kaladin and Freya's older brother) and has been sent from Mithral Hall to serve as an acolyte under his uncle Kaladin while apprenticing in the family trade under his aunt Freya at Heroes & Hammers in Neverwinter's Chasm District.

Appearance

Age: 35, Height: 4'1", Weight: 145 lbs., Hair: Copper Red, Eyes: Bright Green, Skin: Fair with freckles

Thorin embodies youthful dwarven enthusiasm with a lean but sturdy build that hasn't yet filled out to the massive proportions typical of mature Battlehammer males. Standing at 4'1" and weighing 145 pounds, he moves with the eager energy of youth rather than the measured confidence of his elders.

His copper-red hair is kept in a simple braid down his back, adorned with a single iron bead gifted by his father before departing Mithral Hall. Unlike his uncles, he sports only wispy facial hair that he's desperately trying to cultivate into a proper beard, much to the amusement of the other dwarves in the enclave.

Thorin's bright green eyes sparkle with curiosity and determination, constantly darting between observing his uncle's religious practices and studying his aunt's smithing techniques. His fair skin bears the freckles common to copper-haired dwarves and shows the beginning calluses of forge work on his hands.

He typically wears simple brown robes over sturdy leather work clothes, with the holy symbol of Gorm hanging prominently from a chain around his neck. His boots are reinforced with steel plates, and he carries a simple war hammer that belonged to his grandfather.

The Decision to Send Him Away

After long discussions with the Mirthal Hall clan elders and his wife Mira, Dain made the difficult decision to send Thorin to Neverwinter as an official representative of the clan. Satisfy the young dwarf's desire for adventure while maintaining family honor and potentially strengthening ties between Mithral Hall and the surface.

Letters were exchanged with Freya, explaining the situation and requesting that she and Kaladin take responsibility for Thorin's education in both religious and practical matters. Freya agreed to this arrangement and chose not to inform Kaladin. Kaladin was extremally surprised to be greeted by his nephew on the Summer Solstice in 1495 DR.
