Traditions of the Neveren

Fire Spirits   A common superstition among the Neveren population is that fires are living things, containing small elementals known as sfire spirits. Thus, lighting or quenching a fire is a ritualistic process where you need to show respect to the fire spirits (after all, you're creating a living thing). Therefore, putting out a fire should not be taken lightly. If you must put out a fire, take a torch and keep part of the fire for later. The remaining fire should then be quenched at once with water. Ensuring the fire never really goes out (by keeping some part of it lit) is a constant struggle for Neverwinter residents.   Amaunator   He is the Netherese solar deity of order, the sun, law, and time. He's viewed as a harsh but fair deity, and every citizen is expected to give thanks to him. Common occurances to thank him are when the weather's sunny, when you're on time for something, and when justice is done. Greeting Amaunator during a sunrise is another very common practice, such that most business takes a brief pause every sunrise and sunset to recognise Him.   Unlucky 30   Since the 30th of every month is the full moon, the number 30 is considered to bring bad luck. This is mainly due to the association with lycanthropy, and Neverwinter has a history of battling lycanthropes. To avoid saying 30, they often call the 30th day of a month "lastday". Lycanthropy generally is regarded with much superstition, and so it's euphamistically referred to as "Selune's kiss".   Tossing a copper   A copper coin holds a value beyond the monetary in New Neverwinter, especially among the poor. Tossing someone a copper to someone means you owe them a favour, a debt, or that you hold them in deep respect. Some people even stamp their own copper pieces to be used for this purpose, so that people know exactly who owes who a favour.

How long has the tossing a copper been a thing? I remember Rri was tossed a copper in the plane of water by a dwarf just after arriving in the city of glass.
