Durability

Rolling a natural 1 on a weapon attack or sustaining a critical hit on a shield or armour will cause its durability to decrease. Furthermore, after a combat, a martial class should roll a d20. On a 1, their weapon decreases in condition. This check can be made with advantage if the player has a whetstone.   The same applies to the arcane focus used by a spellcaster. If you roll a natural 1 on a spell attack, it's durability decreases. And, after a combat you roll a d20, and on a 1 it's condition decreases. An applicable set of artisans tools grants advantage on the check (eg. glassblowers kit for an orb).   Besides being fully operational, there are 3 “conditions” (note that these effects and repair costs are cumulative):   Worn/Sundered Weapons :-1 to attacks and damage Armour: -1 to AC To repair: 1 hour and a repair check with appropriate tools. Or a payment of 25gp. The mending spell can repair this level, but no further.   Damaged Weapons: Disadvantage on attacks (and/or grants enemies advantage on affected saves) Armour: Disadvantage on STR/DEX saves. Repair: 4 hours and a repair check with appropriate tools. Or a payment of 25gp + 1/10 the item’s cost   Broken Weapon/Armour: Cannot be used Repair: 50% of the base cost. This can only be done in a full workshop environment, and may take up to a week
