12 - Crafting

What is Crafting?

Much like in the world, your character will likely be surrounded by materials every day. Things you'll come across in your adventures, from the fantastical power of a dragon's tooth, to the mundane fluff of a random throw pillow - a creative character can find a use for just about anything; and nothing exemplifies this more than crafting.

Everything from weaponry, armour, potions, tools, ammunition, baubles, decor and even buildings can be crafted with the right tool, materials, and most precious of all, time.

What You'll Need.

Tools - Everything you might attempt crafting requires the right tools for the job, there is no set list for what these tools need to be, but your Game Master will likely ask that you have tools relevant to what you're trying to make.
Supplies - Supplies are a simplified means of tracking what you have available to craft with. Like tools, supplies don't have terms that are set in stone, but your Game Master will likely separate each by what they're used for. Your supplies will have a number of charges, and crafting something will expend these charges. How many are expended is based on the complexity of your creation.
Workspace - Sometimes, the things you craft may require a dedicated station to work at. What this needs to be is at the discretion of your Game Master.
Experience - No character begins as an expert in all forms of craftsmanship. Trying to create something your character has no experience will typically result in a disadvantage of 2 (See Rolling and Dice)

Replenishing Supplies

On your travels, gathering and purchasing ingredients relevant to a certain type of supplies will replenish your charges. How many charges you regain is typically left up to a roll.

Improving Tools and Storage

In Nether better bags hold more things, and better tools make work easier. Improving items uses the same system as crafting them, but may require special materials to perform.

Special Materials

When creating something particularly powerful or something that has never been seen before, your Game Master may ask you to gather a special material necessary for your project's success. This will require your character to actively search for a specific ingredient or component, which will be consumed upon use. However! Once you've made this specialty item successfully, you can do so using normal supplies from then on.

Progress and Rolling

In order to successfully craft something, your Game Master will assign a progress meter to it. This is a number they decide that serves as the amount of successful Action Rolls your character will need to make in order to complete it.

Crafting Together

Working together as you craft has more than just a story benefit! When you work together with a partner, you remove 1 Disadvantage from the roll if you have them. If you don't, you gain 1 Advantage instead. When rolling to progress your project, both characters will roll and choose which result to use.
