Eladrin
The Ones Who Never Left
While most throughout the continent think of the origin of the Elves as beginning on the Svaelyn Isles, there is another school of thought that places their origin far earlier, in another realm. The Eladrin is the name given to the Elves of the Feywild, who some say are the first Elves, the ones who never left their true home. While the true ancestry of the Elves remains a mystery, what is true is that the Eladrin are their kin and are innately tied to the realm of fairies in constitution and abilities. A simple look across the continent of Sol will show that Elven features react more dramatically than most to the environments they call home. In no people is this more so the case than with the Eladrin. Their very physiology and core features change according to seasons and their own state of mind, in line with many other creatures of the Feywild. Magic courses through their very being in such a chaotic and unpredictable fashion that it dictates almost every aspect of their outward appearance. A summer eladrin may be jubilant, warm, and compassionate, while their wintery kin may be decidedly more cruel, uncaring, and introspective. Eladrin do not tend to adopt one set of traits according to a season; rather, they change according to mood, mental state, or by the nature of the magic they find themselves in the company of. Magic is not a choice for Eladrin; it is an essential part of who they are.
Extraplanar Outsiders
Unlike the majority of their kin, Eladrin are not common sights outside of their native Feywild. In the Material Plane, they often pose as other kinds of Elves they can reasonably pass for to avoid trouble. In particular, they are highly sought after by mages, slavers, and charlatans. Their rarity and innate connection to magic have been the source of all kinds of rumors about the powers that can be harvested from them. Due to their natural wanderlust, many Eladrin depart the Feywild in search of new lands, adventure, or to satisfy their sheer curiosity. Those who end up in the Material Plane tend to find their path as wizards, sorcerers, bards, and druids, rarely leaving behind the magic that is so intimately tied to their identity. Due to their chaotic nature, long-term relationships and communities have always been tricky for the Eladrin. Their Feywild homeland is not one known for stability. Its mischievous nature makes it hard to lay down roots that last a lifetime. As such, some Eladrin may come across as hard to know for the more common races of mortals. This inability to understand each other often leaves Eladrin feeling unwelcome in the Material Plane, unable to form strong connections without confusing or offending others. Their ever-changing tendencies often come off as whimsical or erratic to members of other cultures.
Major organizations
Some Eladrin in the Feywild are members of the Seelie and Unseelie Courts. The courts are noble courts of powerful fey creatures serving Queen Titania and the Queen of Air and Darkness, respectively.
