Saint Ophelia
Details about the cult leader known as Saint Ophelia are scarce, but her effect on Northside cannot been denied. She was rumoured to have been a survivor of the collapsing Midwest who was scooped up by the Sixers during their raids. Instead of being sold to one of the warlords that still remain in control in the anarchic middle states, Ophelia somehow proved her worth to the Sixers and began climbing their ranks, becoming a lieutenant in their raiding clans that scoured the wastes hunting for human chattel.
If these rumours are true, then the Saint Ophelia we know today must have experienced something profound out there in the desert to cause so abrupt a shift... or it's one of the most elaborate ruses of all time. The legend of Saint Ophelia (no doubt started by herself) state that she discovered something in the bombed-out ruins of the Witchita Complex. None in her raiding party survived save for her, and she never returned to her Sixer clan.... instead, she began a long, solitary journey across the desert, headed west, shedding her material posessions along the way. She arrived at Neo Vegas in resplendent white robes that she still wears today, a burgeoning arcane gift, and an unyielding desire to help the less fortunate of Neo Vegas. Since then, she's founded the Commune of the Third Horizon, which administers food, medicine and other support to the poorest denizens of Neo Vegas. The source of their funding remains unknown, but Saint Ophelia states that they have steadfastly refused funding from the megacorps.
Whatever the source of her funding was, the resources of her enemies inevitably ran deeper. Saint Ophelia was killed during an ambush on the Neo Vegas highway near Sam's Town on the evening of February 8th, 2075. While her cult had been feuding with The Ironhearts for some time, it is believed that independent operators were behind the hit, and their client was not disclosed. The death of Saint Ophelia would go on to galvanize her followers, and her martyrdom would be forever immortalized as one of the first few who spoke of The Ignition.
