Celestial / Cosmic
Zodac-no-Kara is a once-in-generations celestial event in which Nehwon’s two moons—the Traveler and the Dark Lady—eclipse Sonne in perfect alignment, triggering a gods-ordained magical scavenger hunt. When the celestial bodies converge in zodiacal degree and right ascension, ancient forces stir, and the Circle of Seventeen Wizards selects champions to recover powerful lost artifacts scattered across the world. Long considered myth, the event signals a rare moment when fate, magic, and prophecy collide, marking the beginning of a quest that could reshape Nehwon’s arcane future.
Zodac-no-Kara is a rare, world-shaking event that occurs approximately once every 140 years in the world of Nehwon. It is not a fixed holiday or a cultural celebration, but rather a magical and cosmological occurrence foretold in ancient prophecies and feared by those who understand its implications. The event marks a critical point in the weakening of magic across Nehwon. As arcane power fades and magical items become inert or unstable, the gods respond by initiating the Zodac-no-Kara—a divine scavenger hunt, designed to restore balance to the magical forces of the world. The trigger for the event is a complex celestial alignment involving The Traveler, The Dark Lady and Sonne, interpreted by astrologers and the Circle of Seventeen Wizards, a secretive cabal of the world’s most powerful mages. These wizards send out magical summons or riddles to select individuals—usually powerful or promising adventurers—deeming them the “chosen” of this era. Those chosen must follow cryptic clues and divine visions that lead them across the continents of Nehwon in search of seven legendary magical artifacts. Each artifact is said to be infused with primordial magic, and recovering them is essential to maintaining (or restoring) the arcane fabric of reality. The Zodac-no-Kara is not just a quest. It is a test of fate, morality, endurance, and wisdom, with challenges both magical and mundane. Competing factions, rival seekers, false trails, and deadly guardians protect the hidden items. Success grants power and purpose. Failure may hasten the final twilight of Nehwon’s magic.
