Khurgorbaeyag (KHOOR-gor-bay-ag)

Khurgorbaeyag

The Overseer of All, The Master-Whip, Lord of the Goblins

“Obedience through pain. Unity through chains. Only the ruled know peace.” — Standard prayer of Khurgorbaeyag’s clergy

Overview

Khurgorbaeyag is the Lawful Evil goblin god of slavery, oppression, and enforced order. Among goblins, he is known as The Overseer — both a protector and a tyrant who maintains Maglubiyet’s hierarchy through fear and discipline. He is one of the few deities to survive Maglubiyet’s divine purge of the old goblin pantheon, earning his continued existence by accepting the role of enforcer over his own kind.   His faith teaches that hierarchy is sacred, slavery is stability, and pain is a divine teacher. Goblin priests of Khurgorbaeyag view themselves as wardens of order, ensuring that each goblin knows their place — either commanding or obeying.

Appearance

Khurgorbaeyag manifests as a crimson-skinned goblin draped in scaled red armor, his flesh branded with glowing goblin runes of domination. His eyes blaze yellow with divine command, and a striped whip of red and gold leather coils in his hand — both his weapon and his holy symbol. When his avatar appears, even hobgoblins and bugbears bow instinctively, feeling the crushing aura of subservience and divine hierarchy.

Personality & Nature

Khurgorbaeyag is cruel, meticulous, and disciplined — the perfect bureaucrat of tyranny. He despises chaos and worships structure. To him, every chain, every rank, and every rule are divine truths. Freedom is disorder, and disorder is weakness. He does not rage like Hruggek or revel in destruction like Maglubiyet — instead, he governs through fear, habit, and punishment.

Relationships

Khurgorbaeyag serves beneath Maglubiyet, enforcing his rule over goblins as the god’s appointed warden. He tolerates the bugbear god Hruggek, respecting his might, but despises the hobgoblin deity Nomog-Geaya for his arrogance and competing authority. To mortals, these rivalries play out as political and cultural strife between goblin tribes and hobgoblin legions.

Realm

Khurgorbaeyag rules from Shetring, a fortress-city on the infernal plane of Clangor within Acheron. The realm functions as a divine labor camp — a city of forges, slave pits, and iron order where discipline is eternal and defiance is obliterated.

Worshipers & Influence in the Mortal World

Khurgorbaeyag’s worshipers are the slave-masters, taskmasters, and generals among goblins. They act as police, priests, and enforcers, maintaining control through strict hierarchy. Many goblin warbands paint his whip symbol on their shields or carve it into their flesh before battle, chanting:
“Maglubiyet grah! Drek’tul vah!” — “Maglubiyet rises! The weak must die!”
Some goblin slaves pray to him secretly for strength to survive their masters’ cruelty — believing that enduring pain honors the Overseer and ensures rebirth into power.
