Goat Milk Wine

Description

Goat Milk Wine is a thick, fermented beverage made from high-fat goat milk combined with wildflower honey, tart berries, and a rotating assortment of foraged herbs. Its appearance is slightly pearlescent with a golden tinge, and it often has a faint swirl of sediment from the herbs used in its aging process. It’s typically served cool in hand-carved wooden cups or shallow horn bowls.   The taste is distinct—creamy at first, with an almost buttery mouthfeel that yields to a burst of tangy sweetness. Subtle hints of thyme, elderflower, and sour plum linger on the tongue. It finishes with a warm, mellow burn reminiscent of a mild brandy, making it both soothing and surprisingly potent.

Cultural Notes

Served most often during ritual gatherings, storytelling nights, and negotiations between traveling clans.   Highly prized during spring festivals and courtship rites due to its richness and its association with fertility and renewal.   The first batch of the season is traditionally blessed with a short incantation or dance.

Game Mechanics (Optional)

Effect (Optional): Upon drinking a full serving, the drinker gains 1d4 temporary hit points for 1 hour due to its hearty and restorative qualities (once per long rest). However, if more than two servings are consumed within an hour, the drinker must make a DC 12 Constitution saving throw or suffer the poisoned condition for 1 hour due to its high alcohol content and richness.
