Personal history

Brannick Thorne was born in the frontier reaches near the Rustwood Marches, the son of a half-orc herbalist mother and a human cartographer who vanished on an expedition before Brannick could speak. Raised in the thick of the woods where maps ended and old dangers persisted, Brannick was steeped in the skills of tracking, foraging, and silent movement before he knew the letters of his name.   By the time he was seventeen, he had already become a contracted scout for merchant caravans passing through borderland wilds. But Brannick found his truest calling not in guiding the lost, but in hunting the dangerous. His services were eventually sought out by minor nobles, wardens, and hedge militias for difficult marks: bandit leaders hiding in canyons, escaped murderers who had fled into the Sinking Lands, and once, a marsh-witch whose body he never found—but whose cursed whisper has lingered in his dreams ever since.   Though never cruel, Brannick is surgical in his pragmatism. He does not moralize about the hunted. He simply finishes what others cannot. But there’s a part of him—small and deliberately underfed—that wonders if the line between prey and predator was crossed long ago.   Several years ago, Brannick retired from the bounty circuit and set up a discreet stall at Toller's Point known as The Silent Notch—a place to sell specialty survival gear, silent traps, untraceable weapons, and beast lore to those with specific needs and no time for questions. The business attracts scouts, hunters, poachers, and mercenaries alike, but it is Brannick’s quiet discernment that keeps people coming back: he never judges, only equips.
