Arboryn

Arboryn is a small realm created by an ancient troupe of druids. Molded by the lost art of shardshaping, this realm holds the species of a land long lost to history. A meticulously maintained environment the shards that make up the realm was the perfect preservation land. The shards of Jung's Refuge and Rigwarl's Run hold a strong connection, manifesting as the image of a full moon. Once serving as this realm's only entrance in or out this realm was once a solitary land, isolated from the rest of the Nebula. Through the interferance of the Alder Sisters, it is host to three generations of orphans who have formed a small commune.

Uncommon: The souls of living things accumulate on this shard until they are reborn as something else.

People that die here reincarnate in the Orphanwild as abandoned newborns every full moon.

Fundament of the Mirrored Shard

Rare: Shards are identical opposites to one another and pull on their combined resources to correct imbalances, they are difficult to change and almost impossible to separate.

Arboryn is a realm and is the resulting fusion of two twin shards. They are intrinsically linked to eachother by a connection called the Lumar Bridge, and by the Fundament of the Mirrored Shard.

Geography

Arboryn is a sylvan realm that consists of two shards orbiting a smaller one. Through their dance and low orbit the diurnal and nocturnal cycles are mimicked on their respective shards. Jung's Refuge represents the sun, and is a realm of light. Though the seasons change there is only 6 hours of night every cycle. The spin of the shards produces a different amount of light per day on the other realm, creating a forced balance between the two. On the shard of Rigwarl's Run, there exists only 6 hours of daylight per cycle.   Despite the longer days and shorter nights the shard maintains a temperate climate between 60 and 80 degrees between the brightest of the darkest day and night cycles. Although both realms mirror a mountain peak, it is at a low enough elevation that it does not impact the air pressure in a meaningful way. Rain falls with an unnatural regularity, providing all of the irrigation needs to sustain the plants and animals. When noted, it falls in such consistent intervals that it has been used to track the weeks.   Between a series of hills and a low mountain peak lies a valley where much of the land has been covered by deciduous trees. A natural clearing, dried by centuries of increasing soil deposition and hill erosion lays in the middle of a low lying wetland which filters through tons of under lying clay and sand to create a reservoir of clean water. Akin to a terrarium, the place is a small paradise to house endangered species where every need and want has been meticulously put into place.

Ecosystem

Rigwarl's Run has less vegetation and more specialized animals that make use of evolved tools to scavenge in a low light world. Jung's Refuge exists as an ark that contains several diurnal animals and is host to great vegetation. Unlike the normal ecology of the Nebula, not many things reach into the realm, showcasing the masterpiece design of it's creators having been kept in perpetuity for almost a thousand years.   Full of endangered and extinct animals and plants, Arboryn exists as a reminder of time before an unspecified calamity occured on the creature's home realm. Each shard exists as a piece of an intricate puzzle, the two realms of Arboryn place host to thousands of creatures that repeat the natural cycles in delicate harmony. Replete with vegetation and prey animals, predatory populations would be given space to rise had it not been for the growing interference from the settlement at Alderwood Meadows. The few apex predators that exist within Jung's Refuge were driven to extinction for fear of them devouring orphans. Lumar Gnomes, are agents of the shard engineered to protect the balance of the realm, have been since harassing the village using arson and sabotage as of late.

Population

One of the greater oddities about the plane is that a high majority of the population of this place is comprised entirely free of biological parents. Born from a glade called the Orphanwild, they are harvested and cared for by the village community. A large orphanage stands as a childcare and education facility adjacent to the village square. Demographics as a result are without rhyme or reason, and are a result of an inscrutable process. Due to the community being highly controlled in generations past, economical hierarchy has remained relatively flat leading to a lack of aristocratic and bourgeoisie classes.

History

A druid circle long ago named the Circle of Cycles discovered the secret to linking the shards together and tried to restitch their world together. Two dissidents, Rigwarl and Jung had broken from the main plan with a side project of their own. Linking two nearby shards into a loose association, they attempted to mimic the cycles of their old world and create a microcosm of their home.
The stress from creating the realm, and from the partial failure of their creation caused the two to bicker violently at times. Separating themselves from the Circle and eachother they lived on their respective shards until their time of death performing independent research. Today, the shards are inhabited by a small population of people who accidentally stumbled in and could never find their way back.

Betrayal of the Heart

Alderwood Meadows Chronicle

Recently the burgeoning population of Alderwood Meadows had reached the maturity of their third generation. Upon the conclusion of the yearly harvest the health of their Elder Matron, Granny Amara began to wane. It was then the effort to consolidate knowledge of their environment redoubled while they searched for their rebellious members of their kin across Aboryn.
Dark secrets about the realm's origins began to become revealed about the Alder Sister's involvement in this ancient place, leading to The Lumar Bridge being discovered. Having access to the greater world, a diverse- yet naive population are reintroduced to the Nebula.

Shards

Jung's Refuge- A shard that has a prolonged period of day light. This region is a more peaceful shard covered with gently rolling hills and preened arbors. An abundance of prey animals rove the idle fields and drink from the glistening waters of a pristine stream.   Rigwarl's Run- A shard that has a prolonged period of night time. A more dangerous shard that is home to nocturnal pretadors. Covered with a rainforest of primordial mushrooms, hounds, cats and territorial pack animals compete across the floor of this place to survive.

Connections

The Lumar Bridge: A druidic laboratory that maintains surveilance over the wildlife sanctuary. The owners have long since perished and control of the shards has begun to unbalance since people were introduced to the plane a hundred years ago.

The Grey Path : discovered after the people of the Orphanwilds emerged from their ancient sanctuary, this old dusty road by a grey and lifeless sea leads an even but uneventful meander towards other shards others may consider sanctuary.
