Veilscar

The Veilscar is a vast and desolate region of the continent—an expanse hundreds of miles wide where the land has been shattered into razor-edged obsidian plains, broken ridges, and jagged glass formations. From a distance, it resembles a black sea frozen mid-storm: waves of stone rising and crashing in sharp, glittering arcs.

Travelers describe the Veilscar as a place where the world feels wrong.
Sunlight refracts strangely across the polished stone.
Wind carries cutting shards that sing like distant voices.
Night brings a cold that bites as sharply as the glass underfoot.

Nothing grows here.
Nothing grazes here.
No rivers flow across its surface.
The Veilscar is utterly barren—silent except for the whisper of wind sweeping over broken glass.

Most cultures treat the region as a natural forbidden zone:

  • The Frost Forgotten claim the Veilscar is a “dead land” that hungers for warmth.
  • The Drimvin speak of it as a cursed plain where runes crack and tools fail.
  • Other peoples simply avoid it, knowing that anyone who wanders too far in rarely comes out.

Though countless stories claim the Veilscar is haunted, none agree on what dwells within it—if anything at all. No ruins have ever been confirmed, no path charted, no settlement founded. Whatever shattered this land did so long before any living memory, leaving behind only a dark and glittering scar across the world.

For most travelers, the Veilscar is not a mystery to solve—
it is a boundary to respect.
