Fenwulf
Meet the horrific mutant cousin of the wolf.
Basic Information
Anatomy
A Fenwulf shares many similar features to the wolf. The Fenwulf is a massive quadruped with the strength to match its size. Unlike the wolf, its face is flat by comparison. The snout barely extends past the creature's prominent forehead underneath which lie its huge yellow eyes. The monster's mouth is reaches well past what looks like its cheekbones and hides impressive fangs of which the canines are noticeably larger. The ears are pointed like a wolf's but are smaller compared to its other proportions.
The Fenwulf's neck is indistinguishable due to the size of its head and shoulders. Its torso shares the similar cylindrical shape of a wolf's, however, the entire structure remains just as large the whole length of the body. The tail at the end is longer and thinner than that of a wolf's.
Finally, the Fenwulf's legs and paws are bulging masses of muscle ending with five razor sharp claws.
Genetics and Reproduction
Since the Fenwulf seems to share a similar structure to the wolf, it is believed that these two species are able to procreate. Additionally, Fenwulf have also been observed to mate with its female counterpart; the Fenwulfkin. Not a single record supports the idea that the Fenwulf acts as a parental figure to a newborn Fenwulf or Fenwulfkin leaving the offspring to in the care of others or itself.
Growth Rate & Stages
The Fenwulf's dreadful life cycle begins immediately at birth. More often than not, the newborn will devour its mother before it has a chance to eat anything else. A Fenwulf pup is already a menace that should not be taken lightly. It lives completely independent from the day it is born. It only takes six months for a Fenwulf to reach adulthood where it can wreck havoc wherever it roams.
Ecology and Habitats
Unfortunately, Fenwulves can be found nearly anywhere on Terra. They make their homes inside caves, removing any creature that may have inhabited it prior to its arrival.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Fenwulf are carnivore. They will devour anything with a pulse.
Additional Information
Domestication
As wild and unpredictable as this monster can be, its apparent kinship with the Fenwulfkin seems to persuade them to fall in line with the wishes of its bipedal counterpart. A duo of Fenwulf and Fenwulkin is truly something to be feared.
Uses, Products & Exploitation
Another fascinating aspect of the Fenwulf is its relationship with the Leoknights/Sauvatta. As you may know, the monsters known as Sauvatta seemingly live to fight powerful adversaries they deem worthy. Apparently, the Fenwulf fall under this category.
Average Intelligence
Should the Fenwulf truly be a mutation of the wolf, praise the overseer gods above that it did not inherit the wolf's intelligence and hunting skills. As a monster mutant, this breed is noteworthy as nearly all monsters believed to have originated as animals have been given more to their intelligence instead of having it reduced.
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
It would seem what the Fenwulf gained in physical strength, it lost in sensory abilities. Unlike the wolf, Fenwulves live primarily a lonesome life. Their eyesight and hearing is noticeably weaker and it does not seem to share the same hunting tactics as its natural brethren. Instead, it endlessly charges wildly at prey until it catches it. This indicates the Fenwulf holds an impressive amount of stamina not common to wild animals.
Civilization and Culture
Naming Traditions
Has been recorded as Fangwolf as well as Fenwulf.
History
There is much uncertainty as to which came before the other when talking about the Fenwulf and Fenwulfkin. Was the Fenwulf the original mutation only for the Fenwulkin to evolve from it over the years? This leads to a disturbing notion that these monsters may become stronger and wiser still. Or perhaps the Fenwulkin was first only for the Fenwulf to be a malformation of the former?
We may never discover the answer to this riddle but know this: these two breeds are more than familiar with one another and meeting both together offers little else but swift death.
