Introduction

  Everything in existence is a consequence of the potential of the original unbroken celestial element being shaped through the great force. While the world is continuously changing because of the force, it does so following certain general, consistent and static rules. The natural laws of Myr, its magical planes and base elements, are a result of an interplay between the Everchanging and the Everlasting. All that is real, exists as a nuance between both extremes. Energy can either be drawn from the core of the Everchanging or from the core of the Everlasting thanks to the celestial element linked to a body.    

Theoretical Overview

 

Cores and Planes

  The collusion of the Everlasting and the Everchanging created the material world and the other planes of existence. The celestial element and the great force merged into the elemental cores that released the base elements and thus created the current stable yet fleeting universe. Other parts of the celestial elements were kept intact but fragmented into the celestial cores of all beings possessing an own will. As a result of this the number of humans (and other beings possessing an own will) is in theory finite, though its number is greater than all life possible under normal circumstances.

The Everchanging and the Everlasting have no cores. They are is the essence of change and persistence and exist in a different plane as the elemental cores, being the Highest Plane. They are also sometimes called the Great Forces.
 

Every sentient species carries a celestial core that is a fracture of the pure celestial element, the Everlasting. This is the reason why every being knowledgeable enough could use a certain degree of light magic if trained and willing to do so. It is important to remember that the celestial cores exist in the same plane as the Everlasting and the Everchanging, even while being connected to an elemental core and a body or to a celestial stone. When a being with a will dies, its core simply remains in the Highest Plane before being individualised again through a birth in the material world. The ability to channel energy from both the Everchanging and the Everlasting is derived from this celestial core linked to a body because the celestial element exists in the same plane as both Great Forces, thus forming a bridge between the material world and the Highest Plane.

The elemental cores exist in The Elemental Plane, consisting of nothing but the potential of creating and manipulating their respective element. While the cores themselves cannot be erased, they can be split and merged as they are only fractions of the Everlasting and the Everchanging. During The Great Disaster the school of Sarth tried to materialise the (then unsplit) elemental cores into our world by applying energy derived from the two Great Forces. This accidentality resulted in the elemental cores to be split and Sarth to be annihilated. As a result the split elemental cores attached themselves to some of the celestial cores, which explains why only some people can use magic derived from the Everchanging after this event, yet everybody can still learn magic from the Everlasting. The celestial cores exist in The Highest Plane together with the Everchanging and the Everlasting, while being simultaneously attached to a material body and sometimes an elemental core.

Dark magic consists of channelling energy derived from the Everchanging through the Elemental cores thus creating their respectively element in the material world. The cores themselves do this naturally, creating life and continuous change in the world. Certain beings which are able to use dark magic can forcibly channel the Everlasting through an elemental the cores to manipulate real-life objects and elements in a certain way. Before the Great Disaster, everyone skilled enough could access the unsplit elemental cores. After the splitting of the cores, only humans and some species carrying a piece of an elemental core connected to the celestial element of their soul can use dark magic.

Light magic is in essence the restoration of a current state to a previous state. By drawing energy from the Everlasting and channelling it through the material world, it is possible to restore objects and their elements into their previous state, before they were changed either naturally or forcibly by energy from the Everchanging. The common healing magic is the result of a wounded body being restored into its previously unwounded state. Defence magic, used against dark magic, consists of drawing back the energy brought forth from the Everchanging thus relinquishing its effect in the material world. It is said that the vector of the energy derived from the Everlasting is opposite from the vector of the energy derived from the Everchanging.

Most people do not posses the ability to channel enough energy to use any kind of magic. Channelling energy from the Everchanging or the Everlasting is an art that needs long training, concentration, mental fortitude and frankly, talent. After the great disaster only some beings are born with dark magic. beings born with dark magical powers simply inherited a soul (or rather a Celestial core) that was linked to a fracture of one or more elemental cores. It is possible to link or separate these elemental cores to or from celestial cores artificially by transferring them through a celestial stone. This takes a great and almost impossible amount of channelling power however. Magic derived from the Everlasting ('light magic') can still be used by all people, provided they have enough skill to do so.

When a celestial core gets materialised into a celestial stone, the person doing so keeps their individuality but loses all their dark and light magical powers. The reason for this being that the celestial core is what links a lifeform to the Highest plane and gives it or them the power to channel energy from the Everchanging or the Everlasting. An elemental core that is connected to a celestial core that was extracted and materialised, remains connected to the new celestial stone. An Elemental core can be transferred to another celestial core from an celestial stone. During the Great Magical Purge, children being born with an elemental core were 'cleansed' of their dark magical powers by transferring the link between the celestial core and the elemental core to an celestial stone.
