History of Myneron

Note: due to a massive loss of pre-war records, all events labelled as "BW" are noted by their most recent possible date, and although these events are spaced properly relative to each other they could have occurred much earlier.

    The Forging of Lequopia
    Founding

Crysanthium, a powerful city-state on the Southern coastline, expands north into Ecriovan lands, using their military might to conquer the city of Dantersa and their technical prowess to found a new fortress town guarding their east flank, which was dubbed Drepstan. With this newfound power the upstart city-state declared itself as the sovereign territory of the Lequopia. After Lequopia managed to negotiate a peace with Ecriova that acknowledged Lequopian control over their conquered lands, the other two nations reluctantly followed suit. The tension created by this event between the territory and its neighbours would ultimately amount to nothing owing to the outbreak of the Old War.

    Drepstan Reduced to Ruin
    Military action

Considering the founding of a fortress town on their border a great insult, Raetia attacks Drepstan. Stantium is transitioned from a peaceful agricultural settlement to a millitary fortification. Troops are sent to not capture the settlement, but utterly raze it to the ground as a message. Historians attribute their victory to their power over the lake and their ability to ferry troops and supplies to the front directly from their capital. As well as massively increasing tension between the four Southern nations the razing of Drepstan also clearly indicated the power of a strong naval presence, and directly led to large shipbuilding initiatives in both Lequopia and Ecriova.

    [Scranteen] & Flowsta separated
    Political event

While millitary action was certainly involved, this decision was purely political. The two sides of the river grew further opposed to one another's political views over the years, until eventually both sides wanted rid of the other.

    The Old War
    Military action

Due to the sheer lack of records from before the wall, the actual starting date of The Old War is truly unknown. While some may claim to know when it started from it being passed down from generation to generation, the dates vary wildly. At the very least, it is known it lasted for a century, but as some claim it wasn't much longer than this, other say it started closer to a thousand years before the wall.

    Lequopia moves its Capital
    Population Migration / Travel

Lequopia moves its capital city from the coastal Crysanthium, to the more millitarily advantageous inland position - Dantersa. This meant that the capital was now surrounding its settlements, and closer to the other three territories.

    The first Tieflings are born
    Life, Identity

The first children are born to the mutant humans now known as the Proto-Tieflings in Ribfaran, and are discovered not only to carry the curse inflicted on their parents but to suffer from it to an even greater degree, mutating them into a new, demonic species with almost no trace of humanity. The condition of these newborns, dubbed the Tieflings, is reacted to with absolute horror both in Ribfaran and across the four territories.

    Spranton Attacked
    Military action

After Spranton and Flowsta's separation, Flowsta attempts to regain control of the entire natural region, pressuring Ecrovia to respond with force. While neither side decisively crushed the other, that Flowsta felt bold enough to even attempt this demonstrated that Ecriova's overwhelming military dominance from the time of the Old War was no longer assured in this new age, leading the Nobles of Ghantrea to begin a new initiative to boost their forces further and stave off their inevitable decline.

    The Commendium Treaty is Signed
    Diplomatic action

All four nations of the South sign the treaty, agreeing to protect The Wall at all costs.

    The First Schism
    Political event

Due to Ecriova's shift towards a more militarised economy and lifestyle, many noble families became angry at the new mandatory National Service Decree, meaning each noble family had to send their children to train and serve in the military for at least two years. This same decree meant that they also had to send a portion of their guard to serve in the military, lest they be stripped of their ancestral titles.   A noble faction formed within the city dedicated to publicly opposing this policy quickly gained steam, and after a few years of pressure the National Service Decree was quietly rescinded. An event like this would be a footnote in the history of any other nation, but for nobility in Ecriova to openly fight each other over policy would have been unthinkable a generation ago, and this first schism was taken as a sign that the sense of Ecrovian unity forged during the war was seriously beginning to fray.

The first Noble Killing in Ghantrea
    Life, Death

A noble leading the faction in favour of restructuring the honours system of Ecriova is found dead in the streets of Ghantrea near his home, unceremoniously stabbed in the abdomen. No killer is ever identified, and the radical proposal quickly disintegrates without his advocacy. The political murder of a noble shocks Ecrovian society, but this did not stop many more from joining him in the future as the rulers of Ghantrea become ever more divided.

    The Expansion of Lequopia
    Military action

The expansionist Lequopia attacks Ecriova, taking advantage of the latter's decline and conquering Midstant and Vikring - enraging not just Ecriova and Raetia, but causing Thylese and Aborium to take notice. They collectively declare this a breach of the Commendium Treaty, while Lequopia denies this.

    The Unification Treaty is Signed
    Diplomatic action

At risk of causing a prolonged conflict, a new treaty is written and signed by all four territories. This vows that they must truly hold The Wall above all else, and must thusly be unified against the common enemy.

    Kenku Migration
    Founding

Originally a nomadic species, living in camps and small settlements scattered across Southern Entropy, the majority of these nomads migrated towards Spranton (now known as Scranteen). While this was a purely peaceful set of movements, many of the original residents of the area decided of their own free will to move to other areas. No racism involved.

    The Kathazir incident
    Disaster / Destruction

A ritual being cast by a group of warlocks in the Goetia tower goes horribly wrong, summoning the demon Kathazir to our world. The summoning chamber's protective wards are manually activated from the inside, making the entire floor of the tower forever inaccessible and sealing the room's occupants in for the rest of time.

    Economic Prosperity of Midstant
    Financial Event

After a Trade-Route from the Great Ecrovian Economic Empire was permitted through this settlement, the village experienced an economic boom so prominent that the leaders didn't know what to do with all of the taxed coins they were receiving. Most of it went into the village centre, in the form of statues, fountains, drainage systems, improved housing and such. What the people didn't know, however, is that the leaders would sit on most of the economic surplus and treasure it for centuries to come.

    The coming of "Them"
    Miscellaneous

Believed to have started during the spring of 488, both Dwarven settlements were seemingly gripped by some turmoil at the hands of a mysterious entity known only as "Them". Nobody actually knows what was going on at the time, but it is well-recorded that for ten straight months any dwarf trading in surface cities would without fail be darkly muttering warnings such as "they're coming", "watch out for them" or, upon making a purchase, "this should help with them". This continued until spring of the next year, where dwarves were recorded saying some variation of "they're gone, for now" and, seemingly considering the matter closed, never spoke of "Them" again. Considering the famously secretive nature of the dwarves the true nature of the event or of "Them" is completely unknown to the rest of the world, made worse by the theory posited by some scholars that nobody from the time even bothered to ask.

    The Great Voyage
    Expedition

To mark the passing of half a millennium since the end of the War, the grand admiral of Miltar takes a collection of the city's finest ships and sets sail on a voyage to chart the previously forbidden waters north of The Wall, leaving with much fanfare and the continent's greatest sailors in tow. None return.

    The Stantaneum Cannal Begins Construction
    Technological achievement

As a means of granting the rich lakeside cities of Raetia access to the bountiful natural resources and trading opportunities of the sea, a canal began construction from the lakeside near Stantium heading directly into the (then-Raetian) outpost of Sakaton.

    Canal Construction Cancelled
    Construction beginning/end

After the number of pirates migrating to the Sakaton is deemed too high, the Canal project is cancelled. The decision was difficult, however it was neccessary to stop the building sooner rather than later, to save money and resources.

Canal Construction Begins Between Stantium & Ribfaran
    Construction beginning/end
