Psriikan Religion

From millennium past, the Psriikan studied the stars and their patterns of movement, carving ornate maps and calendars in their subterranean caverns by means of tracking their planet's inconsistent, yet predictable, weather cycles.   The earliest Psriikan worshipped the binary suns as a god and goddess in a whirling dance, their presence drifting towards and away from their observers. In tribute to them, the Psriikan created magnificent subterranean cathedrals, dedicated to plotting their dance—foremost among the hosts of divine beings that whirled through the heavens.   The practice expanded from simple recording to prognostication, and eventually to full-blown calendars and almanacs, with what had been purely religious chronicling giving way to practical application essential to Psriikan survival.   The religion persisted for thousands of years, with many highly choreographed and intricate dances being patterned off the stellar movements above. Conclaves of Psriikan assembled specifically to perform these dances, with each individual or couple filling a unique role amongst the mass of whirling bodies.   These dances became utterly integral to Psriikan society, not only as the primary method of worship, but to record historical events, teach coordination, and foster greater cooperation.   Some dances are performed annually at celebrations of certain anniversaries, such as one that celebrates the peace treaty and alliance between two of the largest tribes, where members of the two tribes cooperate to perform a recounting of the fateful decade.   Even after the religion had waned, the traditions continued, having become inextricable from the broader society.

History

Notes:
Sun God and Consort are the binary suns.
Sentinel is the moon.
While Sun God and Consort were the deities of the religion, Sentinel was the guardian who watched over Psriika for its parents.   Lunar eclipses were said to be the Sentinel stepping between the child and its parents to protect the child and resolve a dispute between the parents.
