The Seven Woods Afloat
"The land knows only gravity. The water knows patience. We who live on the wood must learn both, or we shall be claimed by one."
The Seven Woods Afloat
The Seven Woods Afloat is a sovereign maritime nation comprised of seven colossal, artificial raft-cities drifting upon the High Seas. Bound together by ancient treaty rather than soil, these floating forests support a civilization of farmers, weavers, and sailors who live entirely upon the waves.Unlike traditional fleets, the Woods do not sail; they drift on specific currents dictated by the Dripcrown, a living mediator between the populace and the ocean itself. While each city maintains its own local culture and specialized agriculture, they operate as a single unified political entity, trading resources and protection in a delicate cycle of survival.
The Dripcrown
The Woods are guided by a mediator known as the Dripcrown. Chosen by the tides, they serve as the living treaty between the people and the ocean. However, without the stolen crown artifact, the current holder of the title is rendered voiceless. They are currently leading the desperate hunt for the relic while trying to quell the terrified populace. The Looming
The Seven Woods exist under the shadow of a sentient wall of water. Usually a protective force, the deity has grown ominous in the wake of the theft. The water looms higher than usual, a silent threat that reminds every citizen that their safety is a conditional gift that might soon be revoked. The Patient Loops
Trade binds the seven drifting landmasses together. Life moves in slow, patient loops of barges and tree-raft ferries, carrying goods and gossip between the forests. To outsiders, it seems peaceful. To locals, it is a delicate dance on a shifting floor, where a single broken treaty could sink the fleet.
