Screaming Pyramids

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA...
— The sound of a Screaming Pyramid.
One of the great and mysterious Monuments of Axthet, the Screaming Pyramids are a dozen stepped pyramids perched upon the scattered mesas of the Black Cliffs at the extreme edge of Axthet.   A strange series of fluted passeges pass through each pyramid, vaguely reminiscent of a pipe organ. Normally they remain silent even in high winds, however they are said to sing before a seasonal storm sweeps in from The Dawn Coast below the cliffs. During the strongest storms, they are said to let loose a most dreadful and fell scream that has known to send entire expeditions into fits of terrible hysteria upon hearing it.   Upon the highest level of each pyramid is an altar, upon which is a detailed image of an aviform reptile surrounded by the eye of a hurricane, rendered in fine platinum filigree. It is believed that this represents a native deity or significant mythological figure.
