Souls Campaign Session 4 Report

Session 4: 24-04-2025

The party starts inside the heated cave system and they discuss the next steps. They get ready to head out to the Uth Outpost to investigate the Fey sightings in the hopes of finding leads to the Witchlight Carnival.

The weather is bright and calm without any clouds in the sky and they take turns carrying Chiki's shield. Ozzy transforms into a horse and speeds up the journey. Halfway through the journey during Ozzy watch he is suddenly hit by something and he looks down seeing he is bleeding from a deep wound in his chest. Quickly running back inside Chiki's shield he wakes up the party and they go out to find out who is attacking them.

More shots sound out and Ghost lays down a fog cloud to obscure the attackers vision and teleports forward with Saruske. Saruske charges forward and steps on a landmine and gets showered with shrapnel. A shot rings out again but he kicks the bullet away taking no damage.

They start charging forward and look around for signs of a hidden marksman and find him next to the Saruske. Ozzy hits him with an Entangle spell restraining him and he surrenders seeing no other way out. His name is Hans Longstrider, a hunter enlisted with the Witchhunters as a scout. He was looking for them out in the waste and is very afraid of being charmed or polymorphed into something by these Magical deviants. Ozzy talks him down and makes him doubt what he has been told and agrees to lead them on to the Outpost and smuggle them inside.

Once inside he goes into the Ice Serpent Inn and speaks to Anggar Many-Scars, he explains that strange creatures have been running around town causing mischief and stealing stuff. What is more concerning to him is that some people have come back "wrong" and wants him to investigate. If he finds out where the people have gone there will be some money in it. If he can save the people than even more.

He goes up into the room he rented and lets everyone out to discuss what to do. In the morning he goes out and investigates the leads, first going to Idalska Openhand to question her. A nice middle-aged widow who had some trouble with these little fast creatures that Ozzy knows are Quicklings, a tiny Fey creature, 2ft tall, that can move really fast. She doesn't appear to be lying and seems like a regular fisherwoman so he moves onto the next lead.

He visits Frennor Blue Lips, who he met before in the inn's taproom. He questions him and a lot of the parts of his story don't add up and he confronts the man with the lies. Suddenly, he shapechanges into an odd creature that looks like a female Elf with even longer ears, pale skin and black eyes. She introduces herself as Mae'lis, a Fey creature in town that has been having some fun with the locals by assuming the identities of the townsfolk, pulling pranks and spreading rumors.

She goes with Ozzy outside the walls and he gets the others out of Chiki's shell. Telling them she is selling tickets to the Witchlight carnival and give them a group discount. Revealing that Skabatha the Nighthag had a pet Jabberwock that she rode out, there is another hag hiding in a cave, an Ice Hag and recent apprentice of the Hourglass Coven. Left behind in their hideout in a cave near the frozen fjord. The party decides to go to the ice cave first to take out this hag.
