Frontier Session 6 Report

Session 6: 25-08-2024

Jock drops down into the cellar of The Peglegged Wench Tavern and meets the Orc Brakk The Broad. He explains that he is in the cellar waiting for a ship to bring him south along the coast to the Orc camp Lorrukh. When asked to check the barrels for Devil's Flower he checks all until he reaches the barrels in the back filled with the flowers and having a distinctive stamp on them. Hiron also detects this with his olfactory sensors and find that there are 6 other barrels but no more.

The party decides to move on and check the Nosk Farm and distillery to see if there's significant amounts of the flowers stored in that location. Jock and Suicu check out the brewery structure and notice that the distillery and brewing equipment is in the front and in the back there is a large warehouse with many barrels. They see a farm house nearby and decide to check it out for any documents. Smashing through a window they infiltrate the house but are soon chased off by a woman with a broom. The second attempt is more successful with Jock causing a ruckus on the ground floor and Suicu getting into the office and finding some reports with a familiar stamp on it. Jock starts a fire and causes a panic while Suicu finds a hidden drawer with a red journal in it.

At the same time Hiron, Nessra and Glee use the paper given by the townmaster to gain entry to the brewery. They pose as inspectors and get a tour from the foreman while Hiron scans the building for traces of the Devil's Flower. He finds traces of it on the distillery equipment and finds large amounts of the flower stored in the back of the warehouse hidden among the barrels of beer.

They regroup at the Green Dragon Inn to debrief to Lavender Fisher while the town scrambles to put out the fire. She puts the pieces together and tells the party that her husband has been providing the plants to Nosk who grew large amounts of them on his plantation. Nosk distilled some and smuggled out more with help of Ella Prevost and her smugglers contacts. She rewards the party 1000gp and says she will put a stop the operation for now.

She asks the party to travel down to Lorrukh on her and the town's behalf to open diplomatic ties with the Orcs. The party informs her that they have a way to influence the Orcs and present them with a gift or information that's highly valuable to them. She arranges passage on a ship and provides them with official letters to bring to the leaders of the camp.

Meanwhile the party goes to the Gryphon Rider Thuridan Faewynn and Hiron uses his specially created anesthetic on the Gryphon to put it to sleep. The party then surprise attacks the Rider himself and after a few blows are traded Jock knocks him out with an epic headbutt. They get noticed by the guards but Nessra manages to deceive them and they take the rider away for interrogation in the woods and strip him of his armor and weapons binding his hands and gagging him.

They inject him with truth serum and question him. He explains that he is from Naenas, an island belonging to the Kingdom of Therassia, to the North. He has been sent to capture the orc Brakk and take him back on murder charges and escaping captivity. Revealing the defenses of the island, there is a Gryphon Rider tower with roughly 20 riders, 1000 guards, several naval vessels and marines. There is a dragon riders platform but there hasn't been a dragon there in quite some time and he hasn't seen one when he left the island. There's a workers camp with about 200 creatures of Orcs, Goblins and some minotaurs and gnolls.

The party bring the gagged and bound rider to the ship and Brakk boards her as well. They meet with captain Minnie Trethewey of the Merchant Brig The Eltraela belonging to The Western Ocean Merchant Company. They give her 80gp for the use of the captains quarters to keep Thuridan hidden. On the second day of travel the alarm is sounded and 2 smaller vessels appear approaching from the stern.

Jock and Suicu take flight to one of the ships to cut it's sails. Hiron and Nessra take position to fire on the ship with a swivel gun mounted on the rear with Hiron spotting from the crow's nest. Glee heads down below to help with the repairs of the ship. Suicu casts his fog cloud and obscuring the raider cannoneers vision. They manage to land on the mast and Jock starts cutting ropes to release the sail. Suicu appears behind the captain and starts dueling her. Nessra scores some good hits on the other ship and it starts to smoking. Eventually Jock takes out the sails and they move on to the next ship when they notice the raiders call of the attack. They decide to return to the ship.
