Frontier Session 12 Report
General Summary
Session 12: 01-12-2024
We start back in the resting cavern and the party reunites in the afternoon. They're joined by a Firbolg creature by the name of Kirre, who is a priest of the Temple of the Elders on a pilgrimage. They sit down for lunch and they talk about what they're doing here and he decides to join the party to explore the cave system and speak to the Queen.
Some Drones come to pick them up and they make their way to the Royal chambers where they meet with the Queen to discuss the terms for peace from the Orcs. Jock shares the "Highest Honour" from his people with the Queen. She watches the events of the ambush on the screen provided by Hiron and decides that she needs more information and sends her Drones to collect the corpses of the assassins to read what's left of their mind.
They ask about the strange laboratory and the robotic creatures made from flesh and machinery. She knows about these creatures and they have rooms about the entire mountain but one location seems to be central to them. With her special psychic ability she imprints the knowledge and memories of the route to this chamber in the mind of Glee. As well as the way to the exit in the mind of Jock.
The party decides to check out this chamber while the Queen retrieves the bodies of the assassins. Glee leads the party through the cave system as if it's second nature and after about an hour they arrive at the chamber. They see a room dominated by two large Tesla coils firing lighting at each other and in this light they can see one of the robots they encountered before but this one seems to be covered in strange glowing runes. Glee approaches the control panel and it turn and attacks.
The creature uses its unholy glare to paralyse Glee and kicks him to the floor. Suicu notices that the creature seems resistant to their weapons but quickly finds out that it's vulnerable to lightning damage. It is especially weak against the holy powers of Kirre. Jock fearlessly jumps onto it's face and manages to hold it in place while he headbutts it. After a quick fight Glee runs it through with his electrical sword and the body controlling the Mechanus falls limp.
A strange chill invades Jock's mind as he jumps of the destroyed undead creature. Later it is revealed to be a possession which can manifest itself as a curse later but Kirre should be able to remove this with his holy powers.
Glee starts checking out the console and finds it set to the strange language recovered from the jungle temples. He studies the machine and finds a way to interface this data processor with the machine brain of Hiron. Hiron starts downloading the database into his own and learns the language of this long dead civilisation, Zeherite. Glee now accesses the database and finds information on this civilisation and its fate.
After ransacking the place and finding some strange magical weapons they head back to the Queen. She has read the minds of the dead creatures and found that General Pok-Tik is planning a coup d'etat to usurp the throne. He has retreated to his cave and fortified it. Now without warriors the Queen asks the party to go and destroy the General and the forces loyal to him.
