November Recap

The end of November is also the start of World Ember. And although this article is not really worldbuilding, I will still let it count for my total world count? Why? Because this way my chances are higher to even get close to those intimidating 10k. So let's take a look on last month and what I have achieved.

First things first I did the WE prep homework. I did not put the same effort into each week, but overall I did at least do it and the first week was especially helpful. Thank you to BlueFairy for pushing me to narrow down on my focus and even advising me to make a list of things I want to write about. This will surely help over the next 30 days. If you'd like, feel free to check it out:

Part of the homework was to take care of your world's primer. Something I didn't even have before. Now I do, and thanks to Imagica and Tyrdal I think it really ended up being helpful for new readers. And thanks to Hanhula it even looks good. I wanted to use this spoiler effect with the scrole, so it fits my overall theme but man, CSS sometimes is really hard. I'm always thankful for all those smart people in the #css-help channel on discord. Without them, I would not be able to do a lot of the stuff I'm doing.

Besides doing this really important junk of my home page, I also made some slight adjustments. First of I wanted a navigation sidebar that better help to, well, navigate arounf my world. To do this I first had to change the way I was using my categories as book covers. After doing so I started to add icons to all categories and articles. As you will be able to see, I'm not finished with that, but then again ... am I ever? Last change in November were my new category headers. I started to create the first of them for the categories with the most articles in them. Those headers should safe me a lot of my precious writing time. If I don't have to spend so much time on individual header images I will just have more time to simply write something. You can check out all of this stuff right here. And feel free to let me know what you think about that primer.

But homework and CSS were not the only things I've been doing. There was the wonderful Raid of Inspiration challenge, hosted by nnce. As I was inspired by so many different people on World Anvil, this was the perfect chance to mention as many of them as I could think of. I'm a little bit worried that I might have forgotten about some of them, but feel free to check out who and what inspired me so far:

I even was able to do some real worldbuilding between all this organisational stuff. To be exact, I wrote the article about water magic. Primarily because of the splash challenge, but also because I would have had to write it at some point anyway so why not using the challenge to speed things up a bit. And I'm really happy with the article and the spells I came up with. So now I already have two out of five fire disciplines done. This is what I came up with:

This month will focus primarily on Mirintha's eastern continent, Borendal. I'm not sure if those 10k words will really be achieved by the end of the month, but I will try at if it doesn't work out, then so be it. My preparation will hopefully help though, especially as I already created a few images that I will need for some of those articles. So please, feel free to follow Mirintha and see what I have prepared for this month. And hopefully, at the end of it, my world is 10k words richer. Or at least a few interesting articles that will help to bring my world to live. I wish you all a lot of imagination for this World Ember and am curious to read about what you are coming up with. Maybe there are even some things I can add to my Raid of Inspiration article.
