Ashvar Root

Ashvar Root is a small, gnarled, reddish-brown root that's native to the valleys of Temste.   When the root has been left to dry for a sufficient amount of time, it can be scraped into thin shavings. When prepared this way, the root releases a pungent, almost smoky-sweet aroma that will cling to one's skin, clothing, and even linger in the air for hours. The smell is described by people as both alluring and unsettling, and some say that it can cause vivid dreams or even ward of spirits or attract them, it depends on the region... and the spirits.   The root's name is derived from the ash-rich soils of ancient volcanic ravines.

Blackmarket

If one were looking to aquire some Ashwar Root under the counter, there are a few places where its possible, but the quality of these places vary from genuine Ashwar roots to immitations designed to liberate one from their coins by blackmarket traders who have less honour and standards. Although there are places that are known for their quality, both when it comes to Ashvar roots but also in the treatment of potential customers, like the shop operated by Rilena Thariss in Emitlestar
