The Archives

The Archives is the second planet of the Lynsar System. A gaia world, it is unclear whether the planet's climate and ecosphere developed naturally or were terraformed to be ideally suited to sapient life. While not as heavily populated as Font of Knowledge, The Archives still have a population numbering over ten billion, and the planet is heavily developed. A majority of the planet's population lives in decadence with technology far beyond modern understanding, served by non-sapient synthetics. However, a large portion of the population appears to attend to a major structure referred to as the "Master Archive".

Based on interviews and reports from explorers who have been permitted into Avarrian space, the Master Archive is a repository of knowledge dating back at least one hundred thousand years, and likely much more. Extending deep underground, it (and its support facilities) spans the better part of a continent on the planet's surface, and extends high into the atmosphere. Unfortuantely, the proper procedures to operate the Master Archive's data retrieval system have been lost to time. The millions of Avarrians who work as archivists spend their days trying to find small scraps of information from the Master Archive, any one of which could hold more knowledge than a modern star nation accumulates in a year.
