Krijdan

Krijdans are a sapient bipedal humanoid species that originated on the tropical world of Doehaum. At an early point during the development of the species, they developed a latent psionics ability, which manifested as nightmares and visions that caused severe mental trauma. This reached a peak during the Atomic Age, where full psionic abilities began to manifest themselves, but the development of psionic attenuators prevented a full 'Great Awakening'. Today, the national trauma of various psionic-related incidents throughout history has caused Krijdans as a whole to collectively suppress their psionic abilities, both through belief and technology.

It is believed that the powerful brains of Krijdans may have contributed to their psionic development. Although they are not particularly larger than the average humanoid brain, they are more dense and efficient, allowing them to process information at higher speeds, retain more memories, and quickly adapt to new tasks with ease. At the same time, these larger brains require more nutrients, and Krijdans have a tendency to prefer intellectual work over manual labour. Some xenologists belive the enhanced brain evolved to compensate for the fact that Krijdans have a single eye, giving them poorer than usual eyesight.
