K'Yeerok
K'Yeerok is the megalopolis capital of Yondarim and the largest city on the planet. One of the oldest continuous settlements on Yondarim, the region that is today K'Yeerok has been inhabited since the first settlements were established in the 15th century BCE. The city is of crucial religious importance to the Imperial Faith, as it is home to both the Imperial Palace, seat of the living God-Emperor; and the Grand Mausoleum of Yondarim, resting place of the deceased God-Emperors.
K'Yeerok, often called the 'holy city' by inhabitants of the Kingdom of Yondarim, is built throughout a series of valleys in the northern hemisphere of Yondarim. The city's nobility and upper priesthood live in villas on the steep slopes of the mountains surrounding it, while the middle and lower classes live in skyscrapers constructed in the valleys. Owing to the holy city's religious and political significance, a substantial portion of the population is comprised of priest who work in the various temples and government offices.
The city has been controlled by God-Emperors of the Imperial Dynasty since at least 402 CE, as the coronation of L'Krami, first verified God-Emperor of the Imperial Dynasty, is known to have taken place there. Although there have been dozens of sieges of the holy city throughout its history, none have ever succeeded, owing to the city's multi-ringed wall system and fanatic defenders. The city's walls, long since made obsolete by gunpowder and cannons, are now a minor tourist attraction across the central parts of the city.
K'Yeerok was, historically, much smaller than it is presently. Until the 20th century CE, it was a large city, but not the largest on the planet. After God-Emperor S'Porak united Yondarim in 1854 CE, the rapid conversion of the homeworld to the Imperial Faith caused millions of Yondar to migrate to the holy city. The city has only grown in size since then, absorbing nearby settlements into its own urban agglomeration. Today, tens of millions of Yondar visit K'Yeerok each year on pilgrimages to listen to the God-Emperor deliver public addresses, or simply to pay their respects to their divine ruler.
