Earther

Earthers (sometimes called Terrans) are Humans derived from those that remained on Earth following the ill-fated Ulysses Initiative in the late 21st century CE, and are associated with the United Nations of Earth. Although they are named for their homeworld, most Earthers in the modern day have been born offworld, particularly in the core colonies like Horizon, Terra Nova, and Concord. The term is usually used to distinguish this group of Humans from those that ventured to the Deneb System in 2095 CE, who are referred to as Diaspora Humans.

Earther Humans pride themselves on their tolerance, open-mindedness, and respect for individual rights. As such, Earthers are very tolerant of xenos, and most Earthers consider xenos born on Human colonies (or even having resided on a colony for many years) to be as much of an Earther as a Human.

The average Earther is genetically modified in accordnace with the UNE's Genomic Improvement Project, extending their lifespan by several decades, improving their intelligence, and making them more resistant to hostile environments like those on harsh colonies. Earthers born in the UNE are given free access to state-of-the-art healthcare and education, as well as free housing, entertainment, and luxury goods that satisfy the entire hierarchy of needs. Although large numbers of Earthers have decided to "check out" of the workforce and live comfortable lives without working, Earther culture incentivises self-improvement through intellectual, particularly artistic pursuits. Due to this, most of the population has elected to remain in the workforce, bettering themselves and earning money to live even more comfortably.
