Session 13: The Doom Croaker pt.2 Report

The Lindwurm

The Rat Pack faced off against the lindwurm. The quick, slender dragon wrapped itself around the enlarged skeleton and crushed it into bonemeal. Azid used his prior research and cast a fireball on the beast. Despite being a nimble foe, the fireball was devastating to the creature. The dragon made the wizard his new target and nearly killed him. Fortunately, Glebnor was able to heal him before he fell to death. Once again in the fray, Azid loosed another fireball. Kouvian then ran up and finished him off by using his saw arm to bisect the dragon diagonally.
The party then searched the hole where they had initially seen the lindwurm biting. Inside, they found a ravenfolk named Cawrl. The ravenfolk told Azid he wanted to leave this plane and go somewhere among the stars. Azid agreed to take him with them, at least as far as Bral.
Also in the hole, the party found treasure alongside the legendary diamond, The Doom Croaker. They were careful not to touch the supposedly cursed diamond and had a skeleton carry it. Back at the Hard Nut, Quranis took it, speaking aloud that it was not hers but Zagar's.

Back to Bral

Glebnor flew them back to the Rock of Bral, where Quranis paid them a hefty reward and thanked them for their service. She told them that if they were looking for more work, they could seek out Xenoextermination, Ltd. It was a company that specialized in killing monsters, and they were always looking for help. Alternatively, there was a minor noble by the name of Kiria Evensong that was looking for adventurers to help her cure a disease she had.
Before making any sort of decision, the Rat Pack had other matters to attend to. After Cawrl left, they addressed the two gnomes that they had rescued. With nowhere to go, Eddinna and Frillo Sweetsop agreed to remain with them as their personal merchants. Their first job was to sell off six pounds of lindwurm steaks. They were uncertain if it would be worthwhile, but they set off at once nonetheless. Next, the party went shopping with their newly acquired funds. After everyone had spent a good deal of money on their various wants and needs, they returned to the Hard Nut to find the Sweetsop gnomes waiting for them. They had successfully sold the lindwurm steaks at a fancy restaurant and brought back a tidy profit for the group. They took a small percentage for themselves but gave the rest to Azid.
The party discussed their options and decided they needed friends in Bral, so they left to find Kiria Evensong to try and help her. They were met by an herbalist overseeing the weakened noble. Sarra Voz told them that her mistress was suffering from a rare disease called The Itis. None of the clerics or her own traditional medicines affected the affliction. She was offering 3,000 GP to anyone that could go to the Pavillion of Whispers and Wonderment to seek out an information broker that went by the name The Maestro. Evensong had been on good terms with him, but previous parties had gone to him and never returned. Now no one would take the job, hence the large reward. The party believed they had what it took to do the job but asked for 1,000 GP up front. Desperate, Voz agreed to the terms.
Before setting off for the Astral Sea again, the party used the upfront payment. They upgraded their ship again with a ram and purchased enough rations and water to last two months in space. With everything in order, they set off once again into Realmspace.
