Mrs Rightly's Cleaning Fluid

'Rightly does it!'

Mrs Rightly's Cleaning Fluid is a staple of every home and is the most famous product of Mrs Rightly's 25 Perfect Solutions. The superior cleaning fluid is recognised by the Magnus Prime Food Standards Agency (and is also supplied by the MPFSA) and it can be found in the cleaning repertoire of most restaurants, hotels, and homes.

History

When the Magnus Prime Food Standards Agency was established in 720, they initially promoted the use of ammonia as a cleaning agent. Hospitals in particular became known for the smell of ammonia. In the 810s, interior design began to gain more relevance, and middle class households sought to create more appealing homes.

Leading the corresponding cleaning revolution was Mrs Hinchley-Smythwaite who wrote Household Management for Superior Homes, a guide for cleaning, cooking, and hosting which is still referenced today. In the first edition of the book, she recommends the use of MPFSA Solution 01, their ammonia fluid. However, she also strongly reccomends that the unpleasant smell be masked by more pleasing rose scents.

The Original Mrs Rightly's by DALL-E

Solution 01 is the most marvellous addition to any respectable home. By applying the solution, made to the correct dilution, any surface can be rendered free of harmful unknowns...

Cleanliness becomes apparent with the scent, which will become stronger the more you clean, but this can be upsetting to your guests, and may even force them to recall traumatic memories of hospitals. To ease their olfactory discomfort, place bowls of dried rose petals.

Introducing scented cleaners

The MPFSA created their first scented cleaning fluid in 820, opting for a floral rose scent. To hide the ammonia scent, it was required to be very strong. This became known as Mrs Rightly's Cleaning Fluid, and was marketed more to housekeepers and wives, as opposed to hospitals or other industries, which continue, to this day, to use Solution 01.

In 881, MPFSA rebranded Mrs Rightly's from the Genevian Lady, which represented the company's traditional values, to the post war woman, to maintain their appeal. They also released the following scents which remain in production still. However, the original scent is the one most associated with Mrs Rightly's Cleaning Fluid.

  • Original: Rose, geranium, and lavender
  • Forest Fresh: Cedar, pine, and eucalyptus
  • Midden Nights: Cinnamon, patchouli, and cloves
  • Summer Sun: Bergamot, orange, and lemon
  • Purity: Jasmine, vanilla, and ylang ylang

Properties

Mrs Rightly's Cleaning Solution comes in a rectangular can with a small off centred screw cap. This has been the distribution method of choice since 720. The solution can be used neat (for extreme disinfection), or a capful can be mixed with 500ml of water and either put in a spray bottle for wiping surfaces, or a bucket for mopping floors.

Using neat or diluted, it is always recommended to use gloves as it can cause chemical burns on the skin. Neat, it is a very strong yellow colour and the smell is incredibly overpowering, with many reporting that it makes their eyes sting and their nose water.

The sunny disposition of Mrs Rightly on the label might assure you of the goodliness that this product contains, but no amount of toothy smiles or vulgar perfume can disguise the poisonous nature of what is inside that can. In that respect, there is nothing else that can champion its bacteria killing power.

After Use

It is reported that after being flushed down the drain, the cleaning fluid naturally breaks down and causes no harm to the environment.

Cans are thrown away, but many are kept and repurposed, particularly by slaves, or the lower middle class. They're commonly found rusty in people's sheds, or for a short time, decorating an eccentric garden as tealights. In slave accommodation, they are often repurposed as cooking ware.
