The Salt
The region now known as The Salt was once the city and plains of Renai. The centre of agriculture in the Southern isles, its vast farmlands and granaries supplied the Kingdoms with all of the foodstuffs they could want. All up until 4068AF, when suddenly, seemingly from nowhere, a massive Obelisk structure appeared in the middle of the city, and from it flowed the Salt. A massive storm assaulted the region, assaulting the buildings, the lands, the fauna and flora, and even began to transform the ground itself. No one within the city is known to have survived, even those on the edges suffering severe harm before they managed to get out of its sphere of influence. The once grand city of Renai stood hollow and empty.
Now, the plains remain empty, flat, motionless. Attempts to reach the city have failed, with water reserves rapidly drying up, the salt harming the hooves of any beast of burden that is used to carry cargo, and the difficulty of walking upon the salt in general, without skidding and sliding. Magic within the area acts strange as well, somewhat akin to an area of wild magic, causing those of the magical persuassion to be wary of the place. Observers keep watch of the place, to ensure it does not spread further, but it appears dormant. While occassional salt storms can be seen in the distance, none approach the edge, causing an almost solid border to have formed, as even the wind does not blow from the grasslands surrounding it into the Salt.
The appearance of this Obelisk is blamed on the North by those of the Southern Kingdoms, and began the war that rages to this day. The motivation claimed? To destroy the Souths supply of food, to cripple them and leave them vulnerable to invasion. The South was prepared within the month and the Tullian Navy set sail.
Geography
Almost perfectly round, flat and completely white, with a 100 mile radius. The only parts of the area not completely flat are old buildings, many derelict and falling apart. No trees stand, no grass, no wildlife.

Very cool "magical" natural disaster. Only thing missing is I would potentially add a mention somewhere of the radius of the near perfect circle. The article is kind of ambiguous on whether just the city was affected or if it was the city and surrounding area, and adding a radius would go a long way towards fixing that. Think of it as the difference between Manhattan, New York City, and the New York Metropolitan area
Very fair! Its about a 100 mile raidus (200 from side to side) which I will add to the article.
