Perian Reza Navabi
Born outside of Merana, Perian came to Novaroma in his late teens and joined the Meranese Legion at 18. Two short years later he was appointed to guard the daughter of Novaroman Senator Nirav Montoya, and has since resisted promotions that would take him away from her. While he is devoted to Crys, his loyalty truly lies with Nirav, and Perian will do anything the Senator asks of him.
Knowing what stained glass has cost the Montoya family, Perian considers himself a Void sympathizer, but disapproves of their methods. He's disillusioned with the world in general as he's witnessed corruption flourish within the Legion and the Senate.

Personal history
Born in the neighboring country of Parthon to a farming family, Perian's ambition led him to leave home at 16 and cross into Merana looking for adventure. He joined the Meranese Legion as soon as he turned 18, and rose through the ranks in just two years to be appointed to the Legion's Praetorian Guards, personal security to Senators and their families.
Though initially frustrated at being assigned 'baby-sitting duty' for then-eight-year-old Crystal Montoya, Perian grew protective of his charge, and after foiling a kidnapping plot, he refused multiple transfers.
Preferring to keep his private life private, Perian has never let personal connections distract him from his duty, though he's had multiple relationships with men and women.

Employment
After leaving his small farming community in Parthon, Perian did odd jobs and a stint in a glass factory until he turned 18 and was eligible to join the Legion. He was appointed to the position of Praetorian for meritous service after just two years, which, as a foreign agent, earned him a few enemies. His first, and only, assignment was as personal guard to Crystal Montoya.
Accomplishments & Achievements
His promotion from legionnaire to Praetorian Guard came as a result of his service in a skirmish with The Void , which earned him attention from Nirav Montoya. Shortly after he was personally selected to guard Crystal, he uncovered a Void kidnapping plot. A few years later Perian was offered a promotion to Centurion, but he declined, preferring to remain with his charge.
Failures & Embarrassments
Crys has a bad habit of slipping away from him to do as she pleases. Perian has more than once been forced to admit he doesn't know where she is.

Nirav personally recruited Perian to be Crys's bodyguard, and hired tutors to fill in Perian's patchwork education. While Perian believes Nirav is a hero, Nirav doesn't particularly care about Perian beyond how well he does his job - which doesn't prevent him from making use of Perian when the occasion arises.
