Cambions
Cambions are the descendents of humanoids that have mated with Demons or Devils, they bear the mark of this touch in their appearance and nature. They often bear demonic traits, such as horns, forked tails or tongue, or reddish skin or eyes. They also tend towards evil more than the average person, and although this is far from a given, it is common enough that the distrust that follows them everywhere is justified.
Cambions are not quite as rare as Yazatas (given demons' proclivity for lust), although they are still rare enough to cause a stir in any town they show up in, especially given their heritage.
#### Cambion Culture
The distrust that cambions face at the hands of common folk, combined with the chaos in their blood, leads many to take up life as an adventurer or wanderer. Some find their way to the cambion enclaves in more friendly cities, while many find themselves taken advantage of by evil lords who give them opportunities where no one else would. The largest population of settled cambions in Elthelas was in the Deran city of Vasha. There it was common enough to see someone with horns or a forked tongue walking down the street that few pay it any mind. The cambions there found a niche working as alchemists, smelters and smiths, as well as other jobs where their natural resistances give them an edge over an ordinary human.
Elsewhere in the world cambions evolved their own counter cultures, surviving how they could. Now, in Materia, they find themselves thrust in amongst species that have always shunned and hated them, their struggle to survive and thrive in such a world may be among the greatest of any of the Elthelian species.
Cambions each have a particular legacy, depending on the source of their fiendish blood. These fit into three major categories, Abyssal, Chthonic, and Infernal.
Abyssal
Cambions decended from Demons or other extraplanar entities of chaos, Abyssal tieflings often have fur or tusks along with other common features of Cambions. The chaos in their blood often calls them to wanderlust, making it difficult for them to settle down.Chthonic
Cambions descended from creatures of the lower planes sitting between the Hells and The Abyss, such as Necronus. Chthonic Cambions often appear to be touched by the Gods of death, with a nearly cadaverous appearance. Others might have the strange beauty of a Succubus or Incubus, or possess the animalic features of a Yugoloth.Infernal
The most rare of the cambions are those born of Devils. Unlike demons these unions are typically at least nominally consensual, with the human parent often trading sex for something else. Some of the these are the children of incubi and sucubi, where the parent has traded their soul for carnal pleasures, while others are the children of other devils who have given some other material benefit to the human parent in trade for their own pleasure. Nevertheless, the children are still rarely wanted, and just as reviled in the community as other cambions.Basic Information
Anatomy
Cambions largely resemble whatever humanoid species gave birth to them in size and morphology. They are however, distinctly marked with the addition of tails, horns, and a reddish hue to their skin.
