Though many consider this its own organization, Project AleX actually originated as a potions manufacturer splinter group. The manufacturer, Poshob, is well known as the first human-made potions distributer, and was created to rival the Rahk'ka's contributions during the multitude of Human-Slizzarí wars. Though they continued to be the primary supplier, one of the executives wanted more; he envisioned furthering the art of alchemy through Spoken Magic, which was unheard of at the time. However, he knew the other leaders would like to 'play it safe', keeping to what worked. Deciding to avoid confrontation, Jacob, for that was his name, took his followers and left. At least, that's how the story goes.   In actuality, he made a deal with his former comrades. He would stick to the shadows; tinkering with his experiments, providing updates; and they would finance his endeavors. And as of now? Well, it's still going strong. Though quite far into his later years, Jacob has made a great deal of progress in regards to his work. He can make your average potion twice as potent with just a few words; change the very effects it holds; even stopper death. While this may seem well and good; It advances understanding! It helps humanity!; that is only part of the story. Beware the morally grey.   For he has no morals. He experiments on his very workers and friends; giving them the potions, taking notes. Most are never the same. Word has gotten out a few times, forcing Poshob to cut off any 'official' ties they have. But he doesn't stop. Prisoners, allies, fiends, foes. Anything is fair game. And that is all we know; he keeps his cards close to his chest, not letting even a single word escape uncalculated. He has a secret. And he won't give it up without a fight.  

While the Rahk'ka have always been the potion masters, Poshob is the closest humans have come to rivaling their might. What they lack in quality they make up for in quantity, and have many achievements to speak of.

Important Figures

Jacob Sander

The head of the operation, Jacob is an old man in his 70s. Like many alchemists, his current goal is to conquer life and death; discover a cure to the disease that ails us all. He is further hastened by his inevitable, near demise.  

Goliath

While many would claim Goliath to be just a statue, Jacob would disagree. He is Jacob's lifelong friend and partner, whom Jacob often talks to. While he may not talk back, his presence would be missed should he disappear.  

Samantha Denner

Though she serves Jacob faithfully, it is surprising she has survived this long. She has been his personal assistant for 5 years, and served throughout the Poshob establishment 3 years prior. This makes her the longest working on record without an experiment gone-wrong.  

Dennis Sander

Dennis is Jacob's older brother. While they didn't always get along, as Dennis got older, he started to get more and more interested in Jacob's work. Most speculate this is because of the fabled immortality it could bring, but we will never know. Dennis died of mysterious causes in Sek 12, 318 (AG), most likely due to a potion incident he had 2 days prior.  

Discoveries

Trial and Error

After much muttering and infected wounds, Jacob finally increased the potency of the average healing potion by 30%. This was his first successful test, which earned him the full backing of Poshob.  

Slimy Practices

The first death of the operation, Joseph Bright died on 17 At, 277 (AG) due to a weak constitution and mis-colored poison-potions. While his colleagues held a quiet funeral, Jacob was already working on his next 'deceptive death' brew.  

Clumsy Fool

Jacob spilled an acid potion on his workstation, causing the table to degrade a bit. This sparked an idea for a more potent, wood degrading potion which is now commonly used as an anti-shield substance in fights.
