Blood-Sigil Ritual

The Blood-Sigil Ritual is one of the most sacred and unifying traditions in Wolfen culture, performed by every Wolfen before the age of seven. It is both a rite of passage and a deeply spiritual act, tying the child to their family, community, and the nation of Dravis. The ritual binds a drop of the child’s blood into a carved bloodstone, which is then stored in the great honeycomb vault beneath the King’s castle in Zarkova.

The ritual is recognized and quietly approved by the Beekeeper, whose faith has subtly woven itself into Wolfen culture. While it has evolved over time, the Blood-Sigil is still seen as a moment when the young Wolfen’s life becomes part of something greater than themselves.

Ritual Process

Preparation – Immediate family hosts the ritual, inviting extended relatives who bring food for a celebratory feast.

Clerical Evaluation – A traveling Wolfen cleric examines the child for magical aptitude, recommending schools if potential is found.

Blood Binding – A single drop of blood is drawn and magically bound to an engraved bloodstone.

Oath of Kinship – The family recites an oath affirming their bond to the child and their shared duty to the nation.

Vaulting – The bloodstone is transported to Zarkova 's honeycomb vault, a vast underground repository containing the life essence of the entire Wolfen people.

Cultural Significance

Unity – Seen as proof that every Wolfen is part of a single national family.

Continuity – Families visit the vault to honor ancestors and reaffirm loyalty.

Mysticism – Some believe the vault holds a fragment of every Wolfen soul, ensuring collective rebirth should the nation fall.
