Senma Barrens
"Many believe the vast expanse of crushed ice beneath Senma Glacier to have sourced from some sort of event with the Glacier itself, and it has been tied closely into the legend of Mt. Glairan. 'And the birth of the Gods shattered the cap of the glacier, and scattered it across the realm of the night.' Many believe that the Collindryte found in the Dusk Quarter sourced from this ancient explosion. And while we havent found any veins of it in the Dusk Quarter, there still isnt enough proof to verify this myth. Especially since the Gods never want to answer that question. This barren expanse of ice, death, and nothingness, is likely to be one of the most hostile places on our planet." - The Historian's Documentary, Fourth Generation
Geography
A vast, cold, lifeless expanse that seems to reject all attempts at life. So cold in fact, that even the Undead find an existence here difficult. Plants simply cannot grow here in the intense cold, soil freezes into stone in hours, and most forms of life freeze to death soon enough. The only Living things ever seen here roam closely to the Sanivar Pillars, their natural biome. And even they must be titanic to generate enough body heat to survive. Ice chunks about 3-12cm in diameter make up the Barrens, which in turn comprise most of the Shadow Quarter. Despite all of this, the ancient race - the Gehalna, apparently were able to colonize this place. A large ruined city called Tolan Das is the second most prominent feature. The first being the dreaded Likdrum Mist which sits stationary at the base of Senma Glacier. Abandoned shelters and failed settlements dot the landscape at wide intervals, standing as warning for those who come after.
Natural Resources
The ice once treated melts into very pure water. The biological residents of Enla use this to get drinking water and bathing. While most people get their earnings from within the Glacier, mining the Collindryte. However people who can brave the ice can often times find Collindryte Ore scattered in the Barrens, and can sell it directly for themselves instead of receiving Salary from the city. At the Base of the Glacier where the Barrens begin is a mine that burrows beneath almost an entire mile of ice-rocks to the ground beneath them.
