Sylvan

Sylvan is the language of the Fey.

Sylvan is commonly spoken by races native to Motu, where many Fey reside. Many people exposed to Sylvan hear the language in whispers while traveling alone through the dense jungles of Motu.

There are no written forms of Sylvan. There are two specific dialects of Sylvan: the Feyric dialect and the Hellish dialect.

The Feyric dialect is spoken by Fey creatures. The Hellish dialect is a warped dialect that is distinctly different from the Feyric dialect. Fey creatures feel that the language was hijacked by worshippers of Mephistopheles. If Fey creatures hear an individual speaking in the Hellish dialect, the Fey creatures will immediately become hostile.

There are no languages similar enough to Sylvan for a non-fluent Sylvan speaker to comprehend the language, even with a Linguistics check.

Worshippers of Mephistopheles can take Sylvan as a starting language, although they can only speak in the Hellish dialect. Both Pixies and Satyrs can take Sylvan as a starting language, speaking the Feyric dialect. A Satyr or Pixie worshiper of Mephistopheles may learn both the Feyric and Hellish dialects.

Characters of other races may take Sylvan as an additional language upon creation if that character originates from Motu.
