Wizard
Type: Arcane
Technically speaking, most magi are wizards, at least to a degree. Foci and wards, the core tools of most magi, are Arcane implements, and all spellcasting manipulates the world through Arcane means: chanting, gestures, and runes. So it can be difficult to determine who counts as a true wizard. Most commonly, true wizards focus on manipulating magic itself with warding and metamagic, though illusion magic is also a notable subtype of wizardry.
Wizard Concepts
- Artificer: Where magic is concerned, you are a craftsman. Advanced Arcane magic is based on the use of glyphs and runes, and you are a master of creating such inscriptions, using them to empower objects with magical enchantments.
- Abjurer: You focus on defensive magics, particularly those that negate other magic. You are able to conjure shields against physical and magical effects, and are skilled in counterspelling.
- Bard: For you, magic is a performance. Music was the original magic, after all; its melody and motion shapes the Arcane just as assuredly as mystic chants and runes. You likely favor spells that charm the mind and senses.
- Hermeticist: You are a true scholar of magic, studying the Arcane in its purest form. You’ve probably at least dabbled in many of the other disciplines, and you are likely also talented with metamagical effects such as spell empowerment.
- Illusionist: You conjure magical illusions to fool the senses. More than just sight and sound, you can mimic the other senses as well, and may even be able to draw others into illusory dreamscapes.
