Aberrations

Type: Astral    Aberrations are monstrous alien entities, and the creatures warped by their power. They are a broad type of entity, often associated with the Astral Chaos. One of the most malevolent metahuman types, aberrations are almost always a threat when they appear.  
  • Abilities: As aberrations are associated with Astral, they often have psychic powers, usually of especially insidious and mind-warping varieties. They often have body-warping powers as well, either mutating their own shapes, or causing transformations in those affected by them. Some of the more powerful aberrations can even shape reality itself, allowing them to teleport and create pocket dimensions. On a purely physical level, they frequently have — or can grow — various natural weapons such as claws and tentacles.
  • Origin: From the depths of the Astral Chaos, and the vast reaches of space, the original aberrations are alien beings beyond human comprehension. When mundane individuals are exposed to them or their works, they may become altered by them — becoming aberrations themselves.
  • Varieties: Due to their countless species and transformative powers, there are nearly infinite types of aberrations. However, they fall into two broad categories. The first are the alien beings themselves. The second are mundane individuals corrupted by those beings. Aberrations may be purely physical, or they may be transdimensional in various ways.
  • Personality: The mind of an aberration is just as alien as its body. But, while aberrations are associated with chaos, they are not random; their motivations are simply too difficult to comprehend. An aberration who began mundane will quickly find their humanity slipping away from them as they transform into something else.
  • Visibility: Secret. The existence of aberrations has long been covered up, due to the panic they might cause. For their part, aberrations usually prefer to do their work away from watchful eyes, when they remember.
