Ahura

The Ahura are a long-lived race that come from the planet Vendari. The Ahura once had a vast empire that spanned across the galaxy; however, after centuries of bloodshed and fighting, they lacked the motivation to continue their expansion and abolished their imperial rule. In the current era, they choose to mostly mind their own business on their homeplanet and the surrounding solar system.

Basic Information

Anatomy

The Ahura are tall, bipedal humanoids. They possess two arms, which increases in number the older they get, with older Ahura having 6-8 arms. Ahura have dark, smooth skin that can range from deep earthy shades to obsidian hues. They have natural resistance to intense cosmic radiation.  

Dietary Needs and Habits

The Ahura are omnivores, though they have a preference for fruit and aquatic delicacies. They need a 5000-6000 daily caloric intake.  

Genetics and Reproduction

Ahura pregnancy lasts around 5 years before they give birth to live young. Puberty is between 25-75 years and Ahurans reach full maturity around 150 years old.

Civilization and Culture

Social Hierarchy

The Ahura have a clear hierarchical structure, with a clear distinction between themselves and the Ashuri, a servant species they created. Their society is governed by a council made up of high-class families.

Common Dress Code

Ahura often wear intricately-designed clothing, carefully crafted with delicate fabrics and adorned with precious metals and gemstones to showcase status and fashion. They have specific ceremonial garments for events and outings. Ornate masks and headwear are also very popular. Keeping oneself covered up is customary for Ahura, as they believe it adds an air of mystery and elegance to their appearance.
 

Common Customs, Traditions and Rituals

Hand Gestures

The Ahura have a complex system of hand gestures that serve as a form of non-verbal communication, as well as to convey more nuanced meanings while speaking. Gestures can range from general greetings to specific forms of politeness and respect. Gestures differ depending on age and the number of arms an individual has.  

Artistry

Many Ahura are inclined to artistic endeavours, including things like embroidery, jewellery-making, sculpting and painting. Due to their high dexterity and meticulous attention to detail, Ahura artisans tend to make extremely complex and exquisite artwork.

Exhibits

The Ahura often have huge exhibits and competitions that last decades to show off various elaborate arts. This also expands into the culinary arts as well as agriculture.  

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

Most Ahura have a patronising approach when dealing with other species, viewing shorter-lived species needing their guidance and wisdom. While it is extremely rare, it is not difficult to know if there is an offworld Ahuran around, as they tend to make themselves known.   Despite criticism from other species, Ahura have been known to take individuals and keep them if they've taken a liking to them (though said individuals will live a rather comfortable life). After Ra'koom, the actions of The Crimson Dominion has led to the Ahura being feared by many, though a lot of Ahura don't even realise it.  

Ashuri

The Ashuri are a servant race created by the Ahura. The use of them in Ahura society has led to them being almost indispensable to the Ahura.
