Heliana's Rebirth
In the shortest day of the year, when Heliana is the furthest away from her followers. To bring her back the Getunnieri that ascribe to Helianism gather together and sacrifice to their glorious goddess all the slaves that during the year have proven to be insolent to their masters and their traditions.
During the festival the slaves are taken from their homes and inprisoned in the city's colosseum awaiting their sacrificial execution.
At the same time followers of Helianna spend their time in quiet isolation, ruminating on the sacred texts of Helianna and lighting as many candles, and torches in their houses to bring the light of their goddess closers to their hearts and bodies.
In the darkest hour of the day, late in the evening everyone exits their houses in complete silence holding with them a candle and walk slowly towards the colosseum. Rivers of light are created across all the streets of the city. Once everyone is in the colosseum the doors are closed and the sacred rights begin.
